This is DeSantis' big chance. How he responds to this will make or break his presidential ambitions.

My best friend in Indian Shores said DeSantis has done a great job so far and is showing great leadership.

Trying to get my friend and his family to leave but not working so far. He's from SELA so you would think he would know better.

For that Disney trip dude, they're starting the slow roll process of closing attractions. This is just the beginning so I'd strongly consider your trip, baw.

SoHo area and Davis Island would be flooded for sure if worst happens. Dale Mabry and Henderson used to flood if a car wash left a tap on.

I would not want to be driving thru Fla to DW on a Wednesday night into Thursday.
- no bueno. You get in the way of first responders linemen and others.

Something to note, the 18z Euro is actually a little further south and actually brings the center well into the peninsula of Florida rather than hanging near the coast.

Thursday Evening:

Early Friday afternoon, it’s inland over the central FL peninsula.

Pretty substantial shift for the Euro from 12z to 18z.

Those traffic cameras showing I-75 North bound above the Tampa area show alot of people on the road getting out early.

Anyone know anyone at FDOT how these cameras are connected, and will they stay up during the storm.

There are some prime spots in Tampa near the coast that could make for some interesting shots if they stay operational.

Tampa Airport closing Tuesday as well. This is gonna impact a ton of flights.

quote:

Tampa Bay International Airport will suspend operations Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a statement.

In an earlier statement, the airport said it was monitoring Hurricane Ian and would cease operations at 50 mph sustained winds. Earlier today, St. Pete/Clearwater International Airport announced it would close at 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

The Port of Tampa Bay is also planning to suspend operations at 8 a.m. ET on Tuesday, DeSantis said.

They’re all pretty much on board with the center being just offshore or making landfall around Tampa Thursday evening/night. GFS and Euro today have had it hugging the coast and slowly moving north. Now this run of the Euro has shifted to actually bringing the center well-inland over Florida rather than moving north along the west coast of the FL peninsula.

St Pete Clearwater airport closes at 1 pm Tuesday. My flight lands at 12:30 at the Tampa airport. Hoping and praying I don’t get trapped in ATL for 3-4 days if they decide to shut down early. I have a wife and 3 young kids I need to get back home to.

I’ve always sent good vibes and prayers for my TX/LA/MS/AL families during these times. Say a prayer for me please!
