I would love it if the workplace would revert back to 1960's Mad Men sensibilities.

Whiskey for breakfast. Extracurriculars with the staff not only tolerated, but encouraged. Maybe some guy hangs himself in his office. No HR feminazis patrolling the hall, policing your every word and move.
Good times.

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

I just want an office with lots of natural light and some nice old lady who brings in food once a month.

Repeal the 19th amendment first.

Just go work in construction. You can still do all of those things.

I would quit any job where I was expected to drink whiskey in the AM. Can't think of anything worse than that. I have no HR where I work, so quite often go start riots.

We have a case of beer sitting in the lunch room fridge.
In a professional office setting that's about all I can hope for in this HR day and age.

The old timers were right when they said “Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.”

Or become a dr or Nurse. They bang on the regular much to the chagrin of their loved ones.

I had a boss about 20 years ago that was in his 70s and still acted like it was the 1960s.
Constantly making remarks about the female workers breasts in front of everyone. Old fellow didn’t mean any harm by it. He was just having fun. I think they finally got him to retire before he caused a big lawsuit.

Just go work for a Korean company. They love drinking and don't give a frick about HR.

When I was hired by a large company in the early 70s it was a regular Peyton Place (youngsters please google that) around there. It was hands off certain women there because the upper level managers/execs were not sharing.

I don’t disagree, but some discernment is needed here so you don’t come off as a pretentious tool.

Dude wants to work at a Hooters that still lets you smoke inside
Posted on 1/6/25 at 2:55 pm to Slippy
Smoking inside would be disgusting though. I'm down for everything from Mad Men except that.

I do that, it's actually not bad. I've had other jobs that were very casual and I sometimes prefer the nice clothes look.
I don't find slacks, button up, blazer, and nice dress shoes to be uncomfortable at all. Maybe I'm just weird. Also, when I leave work, I feel like people are more polite to people dressed up

You work on Madison Ave. in advertising in the 60s, did you?
