re: I sense the divide is growing

So, why not just kill yourself and save the trouble of this virus doing it.

There are some real screwed up people here that even think this is going to get under control within the next month or so. We will have a peak, a drop off and then a second, third peak till we find a somewhat cure which can be a year+ out.

The government is just trying to slow the spread of the virus right now knowing it can get a lot worse.

We, as a nation had known how to do without things in the pass. Look into the history in WW2. So, quit the crying cause you can't go to the gym or a bar. For God sakes, some of y'all have old folks as parents. :banghead:

The economic ripple effect is the problem, not the loss of any one of these activities for a few months.

No argument from me on that point. My point was that Scruffy's claim that industry is just shutdown across the country is blatantly false, not so much that there aren't people and businesses that are going to feel a lot of pain from this entire ordeal.

It isn’t hyperbole.

Completely misguided individuals are requesting they we literally shutdown the country for weeks.

That will absolutely destroy thousands of businesses and bankrupt who knows how many people.

We are destroying lives to save lives?

Explain the logic behind that.

Those people still make purchases of goods & services made by the sectors that are still "humming along".

When Delta, Disney, and Hilton spend hundreds of millions a year in technology, food, fuel, etc. They're all spending a fraction of their normal.

To act like this won't impact those industries "humming along" is ignorant of how the economy works.
