I think all we can really do is take these measures to deal with the medical issues, and then work around the financial issues.

A significant portion of Americans live check to check due to low wages. They are holding up several sectors of their economy, and need to feed their families. Not everyone can pull a 10k loan or savings to paper over the cracks.
Social unrest and crime spikes that come as a result of an extended lockdown could make this virus look like kindergarten.
I would love to lock things down, but we're running out of fricking time on a societal level.
It's a no win situation - neither side is selfish.

I'll take the three weeks off. As testing becomes more available and we get more results of those who have been sick for a few weeks, then we can evaluate our strategy for containment.
If it turns out that this thing has a death rate similar to the flu, then I absolutely do not agree with destroying the economy for it.

It's all OK. Apparently, not only can 100% of the working population simply work from home but since a lot of employers have offered to keep paying for the first two weeks, then obviously they'll gladly continue do that indefinitely.

We should be using this time to fully isolate the most at risk and then in 2-3 weeks the healthy and young are allowed to get back to work
That seems like the most logical way to balance the curve concerns and the impact on our economy. It also should largely appease people on both sides of the debate in this thread
