Come on man. 265k is the number of confirmed cases. The actual number is many times this. When all is said and done the mortality rate is going to be way, way under 1%. And I doubt that anywhere close to 1/7 of the world's population gets infected. Some of you doomsday types on here are unbelievable.

I think that's an incredibly naive view. I mean we see what's going on around the world, right? Everyone says, "show me facts to support your claim." Then you rattle off statistics, and they are immediately dismissed. What facts do you have that this won't kill millions if left unchecked?

My personal prediction- there will be more deaths in the USA from increases in chronic diseases, murder , and suicide from the stresses of social isolation and people’s economic failure than the virus itself

The number of daily deaths worldwide is increasing by over 10% every day. Wild. Its been over 10% since March 17th.

Those are pretty big percentage increases for daily deaths. There's been a lot of talk downplaying this compared to swine flu, but this is kicking swine flu's butt in terms of how quickly the daily deaths are increasing.

This may be true after everything is said and done. But, how do you stop a virus where 80% of infected people will have minor symptoms or none at all. They will just continue to spread it, right? If you don't have any symptoms, why get tested? It's just a never ending cycle until there's a widespread, fast-acting treatment or a vaccine. Until then, hope that the warmer weather slows it down - Maybe vaccine will be ready before the next cycle.

Or you do as the U.K. is doing and you extra quarantine the elderly and immune compromised, and let everyone else that will
most likely only experience minor symptoms to live a normal life and move forward giving it to each other so a large percentage of people get it quickly that won’t need hospitalization.

They abandoned this practice when the models showed it could lead to 250,000 deaths and overwhelmed hospitals. I have in-laws that live there, and I can assure they are working from home.
