The readiness in which people are willing to just give away their way of life for something that amounts to a statistical anomaly on the world scale is really interesting.

The flip side is that it's also interesting how many people are willing to let someone else die for the sake of their own convenience. I'd also be curious to know how many consider themselves prolife.

Today I learned that putting a roof over your family's head and making sure they can eat is "convenience."

Being on the medical side of things, and I know the aggressiveness of the virus, I fall on the proper precautions side.
One way to slow it down.
There’s isn’t an overreaction when 4,000 people have died from something.
It’s easy to know that if these measures weren’t taken the numbers would be really high.
So anyone saying it’s an overreaction, well it really doesn’t matter what they say. Let them bitch and complain while we beat this pandemic.

The report that world governments are leaning on greatly was released this morning.

With no precautions taken, we lose 4,000,000 people in the US.

With inadequate precautions taken, or precautions cut off prematurely, the number drops to 2,000,000 dead.

With complete isolation for the next 2 months, all businesses closed except for grocery stores, curfews, etc., we only lose a few thousand. BUT, this will have to be repeated every 3 months until we have a vaccine.

People look at the numbers now, or overseas, and are just like "meh, a few thousand olds". People aren't appreciating just how far behind we were when this hit our shores and the spread that was occurring before we started testing. It's going to be roughly 45 days before we hit the apex of current impacts. Numbers will exponentially increase over that time.

There's a reason why Trump, Fox, and the GOP have suddenly changed their tune....and a lot of it has to do with the report that was released this morning publicly which they've had access to for a few days.

If it doesn’t take off in two weeks then the precautions taken will have worked

So what are we doing when this flares up again in December or January and we still have no vaccine?

Guess the NBA needs to get ahead of the curve and go to 50 game seasons now.

Just wait until college football gets cancelled well before the season.

A lot more of you will be joining us on team overreaction.

4m dead. Yeah because that's happening everywhere. If that is what is in their report then they're WAY off the deep end and in the business of creating panic.

I want a strong, short-duration response and then for us to move on while committing a bunch of resources to mitigating the effects on the health system and working to find treatments.

I’ve seen more people die at my feet while putting my life on the line than you could count. I’ve also saved people without a pulse, babies, elderly etc. So take it however you want, but I I can die being fulfilled whether you like my comment between saving lives or people being out work for a few weeks. Seriously, why do you exist?
Do you think that maybe your job and experiences skews your view of things? Do you think that people who deal with poverty regularly and all the problems that creates might view things differently?

Thank you for what you do, but there is a difference between how far a person should go to save a life, and how far society should go. You would likely work until you die of exhaustion if there is still a chance you could save a life, and I would do the same. But at a higher level, there must be limits on how we allocate resources to fight a problem. We have to ask what harm we are causing.

They are shutting stuff down anyway. I'm one positive person away from my company closing doors on 2000 employees.

If they are gonna do it they need to do it NOW and not half arse it.

People have already been put out of work.

I think most can survive a month with a little government help, but longer than that is going to be a catastrophe.

Not everyone has the ability to work from home for months until numbers drop to whatever they need to.

And gyms arent essential, btw. Just workout at home. Pushups and situps can be done in your living room.
