Man, let me tell you this. I am a high school teacher, and smart phones are destroying this generation. They can't not check it constantly. I dont have anything except facebook and TigerDroppings because neither of those have algorithms shoving unwanted content down your throat.
I asked one of my students the other day honestly, what she would do if her front camera didnt work on her phone and she said she would carry around a mirror all day because she cant not look at herself constantly. Its sad man. So much cyber bullying too!

There’s really nothing positive about being on social networking sites. The only exception I can see is people who only add family and very close friends to keep up with them...even then, it’s still a risk when you consider how much power big tech now wields.

I got off Twitter and Facebook over a year ago and I’ve never been happier. I still have Instagram but I rarely use it.

We stopped watching the news a few months back. It's refreshing. I have twitter to follow sports news, but even then I probably only look at it once every few weeks, it got too inundated with political bullshite over the past year (and I only follow "sports people", reporters and such). I have Facebook, but it's only to peruse Bourbon group pages, I went through a mass unfollow on my Facebook about a year or so ago. I do also have IG, but I don't follow anyone but meme pages, bourbon pages, and watch pages.

But I do look at this cesspool everyday, so...

I predict one day that a major war will be started because of something that happened on social media.

I was gonna post the same thing yesterday. My stress level has dropped drastically just by not watching the news and getting off FB.

Those very words could have come out my mouth. Social media is a cancer in today's society and for the most part the news is no longer reported but manufactured to fit the agenda of the people doing the so-called reporting.

There's only 3 web sites I visit that have to do with things that interest me, this one, a boxing site and a darts website that allows me to follow, and communicate with folks with like interests.

You can have facebook, twitter, and whatever else is out there for people to pollute with their ideals and personal/political agendas.

The media lost all credibility when they started using Facebook as a news source...

The only reason I’m on FB is for pics and contact with family. Otherwise, no Twitter or anything.

Facebook isn't bad once you filter out the BS. I like to keep in touch with extended family and friends.

It will make your life better.

But you'll still be made to care.

They will find what you like and make you care, or it will be taken from you.

Or if you just didn’t have to react to everything you disagreed with. It’s ok to have social media and not read any news story. People disagree. Accept it and move on.

the problem is a lot of people delete FB and Twitter, but then turn around use places like TD as their FB and Twitter feed

my FB feed is way less vitriolic than TD
