How much do you think you should get in trade? Surely you knew you wouldn’t be able to get 40.

Wondering why you bought a $40k used vehicle if you only planned on driving it for 1 year

Pro tip- the gas savings will never catch up to the loss you take

What yr and how many miles?
A clean Tahoe would fetch good money.

There are much more partially legal ways of doing this.
Buy or add GAP coverage to your auto insurance policy wait till a few days after the policy becomes effective.
Leave it parked in New Orleans East with the keys in it or drive off a cliff or the nearest waterway.
File claim with your insurance and GAP provider.
Walk away with no loan balance.

I thought I could get at least $28k for it

If that was the case for me I would probably just keep it and buy a second vehicle

Stupid. That isn’t a justified reason

My tacoma was worth $38k 2 months ago, $34k now..... the bottom fell out

If you just paid it off why would you want to get another vehicle with a loan? Enjoy not having a car payment for a while

This math isn’t adding up, how is it only worth 18k when you paid 40k last year?
It was only worth $25k when he bought it.

I bought a used Tahoe last year for $40k and have it paid off and was looking to sell it or trade it in.
What rational person* buys a Tahoe and then doesn’t need it a year later?
*If you can afford to do this, then this entire thread is moot.
A long time ago a wise person told me to minimize the number of times to buy a new vehicle. That’s probably still good fiscal advice.

You probably bought a 20k Tahoe like an idiot and added extras and financing total being 40k lol

Yep. The market is crashing. People who overpaid for vehicles last year are stuck. If it’s paid off, keep it and drive it for awhile.
