quote:I don’t understand this. How the frick do you get more money for a used vehicle that you bought brand new?
The trick was to buy a new car, run it for a year, and sell it for more than you paid.
Been doing that for a few years now, pretty decent side gig and always driving a new truck.
What kind of retard will pay more for a used vehicle than it cost new?

Drive it. And keep driving it.

yes. In most cases, a vehicle is a depreciating asset
Irrelevant
A new car that cost $150k doesn’t just become worth < $40k because you drive it off the lot.
And any asset can be one of depreciating value if you pay too much for it.
But just saying any car is worth less than $40k is just wrong. You wouldn’t buy a 2020 G63 for $41k when you could turn drive it for a year sell it for over $100k?

Happens man. Try getting a Bronco. You'll still pay more until Ford catches up.

Keep it.
You were overcharged last year but that doesn’t matter as much if you run them until the wheels fall off.

Just bought a vehicle and already want to buy another. Seems like you make great financial decisions

bought a used Tahoe last year for $40k and have it paid off and was looking to sell it or trade it in. I just looked at the instant offer on KBB and it was just north of $18k.
Was it shelled during a military skirmish or something?

I would have not bought a vehicle at the worst time possible

Prices have been wild and all over the place. I’m having the opposite experience. My son turns 16 tomorrow and we finally just settled on a truck after months of searching. Of course my wife’s car died after we got back from Christmas
The last vehicle I bought was a 2005 F150 for around $15k 12 years ago. 100kish miles . Not something I haggled or lost that much sleep over. I’ve had a work car since then.
This one has been agonizing because there are 10+ year almost 200k mile trucks that people still want 15-20k for and dealers aren’t even really entertaining offers.
ETA: we’re getting a 2013 Ram with 150k (
) miles for $12500. Not getting fleeced like a lot of other people but definitely not the best deal I’ve ever seen.
