I blame the charity that first sent me labels years ago.

If we sent you some personalized address labels, would you write our organization a sizeable check?

I only open them to see if they glued the nickel to their form.

they used to send a real time tapped to it, now its just a nickel and a penny so times must be hard

i still just cut a hole in the envelope to take the coins out and throw the envelope away unopened

since im poor i figure they knew i needed it or they wouldnt have sent it to me

A long time ago I opened all my mail, and if a mailing from a charity contained address labels, I allowed myself to be guilted into sending them something.
A few years later, a new tactic appeared. The charities began sending a nickel in their mail, and I saw that they were trying to guilt me with much less effort or creativity.
I never open mail from cold-mailing charities now, even if I see the nickel in the envelope. It goes in the trash.

I like the ones that have a nickle that I can keep showing through a clear window on the envelope.

A WHOLE nickle!!

I haven't seen any with a nickel, just mailing labels with xmas or animal themes and sometimes notepads.

The older you get, the better the gift. My dad gets calculators, thermometers, calendars, note pads, pen & pencil sets and some Native American organization sends feathers that have been blessed.

I figured the nickel was to keep me from shredding the entire full envelope.

St Jude sends them to me religiously. I usually donate 3 or 4 times a year. Been doing it for years but there were stretches where I didn't donate, but the address labels just kept coming. It was a bigger deal back when I use to mail in my bills though.
