I only open envelopes from charities to see if they sent free personlized address labels

I thought this was the weekly opposing quarterback thread.

I only open them to see if they glued the nickel to their form.

I open them for free note pads. Grocery lists and other crap.

I don’t even open those.

This thread makes me miss the cd scam of the 90's with the one 1 cent 10 cds from BMG

A long time ago I opened all my mail, and if a mailing from a charity contained address labels, I allowed myself to be guilted into sending them something.
A few years later, a new tactic appeared. The charities began sending a nickel in their mail, and I saw that they were trying to guilt me with much less effort or creativity.
I never open mail from cold-mailing charities now, even if I see the nickel in the envelope. It goes in the trash.

I haven't seen any with a nickel, just mailing labels with xmas or animal themes and sometimes notepads.

I figured the nickel was to keep me from shredding the entire full envelope.

St Jude sends them to me religiously. I usually donate 3 or 4 times a year. Been doing it for years but there were stretches where I didn't donate, but the address labels just kept coming. It was a bigger deal back when I use to mail in my bills though.
