eery rottweiler i have been around is insanely loyal to its owner. they also tend to be very friendly dogs in my experience, but they have a bad reputation.

I have a chihuahua/dachshand mix and that little bastard is loyal and protective. He will go nuts if someone touches me, once I calm him down he will lay by me and not take his eyes off whoever is at my house.

My other dog is a jack terrier mix, she listens to me, but that little bitch is loyal to whoever pets her at the time. She is a sweet dog, but my other one is a little a-hole, but he is loyal as frick.

I would strongly recommend a Rhodesian Ridgeback or a Ridgeback/Lab mix.

I haven't read any of the responses in this thread, but I assume the O-T came together collectively for you and decided on the most loyal breed. What is it?

My buddy had a Great Pyrenees, and let me tell you that was the most evil animal I have ever known. He loved my buddy and his mom, but he even wasn't cool with the dad and his sister. Friends? shite. He would destroy you. Big sumbitch too. Name was Titan.

They usually do show same sex aggression around 2 years. It's like a light switch flips.

My dog we call a kangal is actually a mutt. His mom was a great pyrenees, his dad was a high content wolf dog bred with a kangal.

He ended up hitting the genetic lottery. Looks exactly like a very well bred kangle, has a little extra skin and fur around the kneck to stop bites from being fatal, but he definitely has the kangal and wolf intelligence. Over 150lbs and still growing. And the eyes are wolfish.

Loyalty? They are naturally suspicious of everything they don't know.

Any livestock guardian breed has a different disposition than a standard dog.

The breed isn't entirely going to determine loyalty. Some breeds are certainly more apt to owner loyalty than others, but it's also a lot in how you raise them as well as their background.

You want loyalty? Go save an older dog from an animal shelter. They will never forget that you were the one that rescued them from that hell and will be loyal to you until the day they die for it.

Akitas are gorgeous too. And I hear they do surprisingly well in the South. Is that true?

I've never seen more hair, dust and dander come from a dog like an Akita.

We have raised a lot of breeds over the years and in our experience, herd dogs (Australian Shepherds, Blue Heelers, Border Collies)are all very loyal breeds along with Golden Retrievers, Labs, and German Shepherds (protective).

As mentioned in other posts all the breeds require a lot of space and have a lot of energy. And a lot has to do with how they are raised.

Muts can be extremely loyal as well.

I currently have a golden and she is a very loyal dog.

Our pup goes through a few bissel vacuums a year.

And we furminator him outside at least once a week.
