2024 we got involved late and had to stay in Pflugerville (20 min). 2025 we stayed IN Georgetown. 2026 We will be in Georgetown.
Staying further away will save you in AirBnB costs, but if you plan to drink at the festival you either have to deal with the reality of the longer drive, or you have to pay peak pricing for Uber, and the Uber drivers are really going to bump it up on you if they have 40 minute round trips to get back, as it will limit the amount of fares they can do in one night.
IF you are driving, be aware that there is no parking at the venue, and no parking allowed in the neighborhoods. You will need to pay $25/day to park at one of the two local high schools which will provide a shuttle to and from the park where the festival is being held. In year's past they have had a parking location and shuttle available from downtown Austin as well, however I don't see that option this year.

BigXThaPlug
Every year they have had a couple of artist that didn't fit the country genre, plus some DJ sets. This year they have the Goo Goo Dolls and BigXThaPlug.
It seems odd, but Ludacris in 2024 and Nelly in 2025 were pretty fun to see and had some really good crowds at their stages. Add in Skynyrd last year, and those non-country shows are pretty good.

It is one of those events that is so well run that we are ALWAYS considering going. After the first year we went (2024) we booked a fully refundable AirBnB for each weekend of April 2025 so that we KNEW we had a place to stay for the festival. The wife did that while we were driving back to Louisiana.
Did the same thing this year.
When they release the dates we keep that weekend and cancel the others. Then we wait until they release the lineup in September/October, if we don't like what we see, we can always cancel the AirBnB. So far though, the lineups have been awesome, filled will people we want to see that are new artists and 90s country superstars.

I believe it is a tribute band consisting of Randy's original band and a guy named James Dupre standing in for Randy. Dupree sounds a lot like him.

Posted by SaturdayTraditions on 9/26/25 at 2:46 pm
The Two Step Inn music festival has announced it's lineup and opened ticket sales for it's fourth annual festival held in Georgetown, Tx.
The wife and I have gone each of the last two years (2024 & 2025), and will be headed back for the 3rd straight year. It is an awesome, well run event, with plenty of space, plenty of music, and plenty of delicious food and beer. Has anyone else gone before?

Pineville is the only one on our schedule and that’s just because the administration there does not care about football in any way. They are more interested in the arts allegedly. Their aloofness has allowed ASH to rise due to taking every player in that area.
The city of Pineville recently passed a bond measure that includes them getting a turf football field for the 2026 season. So to my knowledge, this will be the final season of natural grass for Pineville.
Also, while I have heard the same thing about the administration... a turf field is expensive and it doesn't JUST come down to admin. Many places simply don't have the money to invest in a football field.
Lastly, I believe I read where Pineville has new Administration this year. So maybe that will turn around for them.

I'm sure we have at least one unemployed person on the board who has the time to create a grass vs turf spreadsheet with all schools listed and then compile the data based off answers on this board.

What’s the ratio of grass-to-turf fields in Louisiana? I’ve seen an explosion of turf over the last few years.
I don't debate that, and in my experience I would say its getting close to 33% turf, 67% grass. That would be a fascinating study to complete.

I’m trying to ask this question / figure it out respectfully here:
Can someone explain to me the interest in high school football if you don’t have a kid on a team or don’t live near the school you went to / played for? I played and personally couldn’t care less about HS ball. I watch college and pro football religiously however
I’m genuinely curious and glad that people like it, I just really don’t get it and want to hear what I may be missing about it. Not above changing opinions.
1. It is the social aspect of it. Friends are there watching their kids or nephews and it is a fun end-of-the-week activity that you can bring small children to without drowning in debt.
2. It is great networking if you are in a sales job in your hometown.
3. Nostalgia. The grass still smells the same, the band still sounds the same, and the lights are just a bright as they were 30+ years ago when I played,
4... and this one is more personal, I'm a referee. So I like to keep up with what is happening in the state because if I do well enough in the regular season, I may get to see one of those teams or D1 commits during the playoffs up close and personal.

In Alexandria, we are blacked out from both the Rangers and the Astros. Only ever matters to me if the Cubs are playing one of those two teams. Otherwise I don't have to worry about it.

He let up because he was pouting about grounding out to the right side for the 50th frickin consecutive time and having a pity party for himself. The percentage of chance is irrelevant to me on this.
Rah Rah, get off my lawn! Miss me with the "respect the game" crap. If he had run it out you'd still be here bitching about him grounding out again. The truth is, you're projecting your anger about how the Cubs have been playing recently onto something that literally didn't make a difference.

But if I saw a guy getting paid $16 million a year not even try to run out a ground ball....if I was there I absolutely would have booed....I'm paying $100 for a ticket and $12 a beer, damn right I'm booing that garbage
If you had watched the play, it was a ground ball to the first baseman a few steps off the bag. Once the first baseman secured the ground ball, there was a less than zero percent chance Tucker "running it out" would have mattered. No need to waste any energy on that.
Had it been a ground ball to short I would agree with you as there is still a chance for a bad throw, but in this situation, the only thing that would've given Tucker a chance was if the first baseman had a heart attack and dropped dead on the spot.

You're missing my point. My point being if this hadn't been a football player, you'd have never heard about it.
You have every right to be upset, but don't kid yourself into thinking this is the only time in the history of the university that this has been done.
Are you mad because it happened or because you learned about it? If you can't honestly say you'd ever thought about it being a possibility before, then you aren't mad at the situation, you're mad that you are now robbed of being blissfully unaware.
Teach your kids to stay vigilant at all times and train them in how to be situationally aware.. because evil is out there. We are surrounded by it; and most times don't have any clue how close we have been to someone capable of great violence.

The very act of the Feds and police having to come get you on campus puts others in danger. Idk if you know this but people who have killed often don’t go willingly. There literally could have been a shootout on campus. He literally could have gotten other students or law enforcement killed because of his actions.
What if friends/family of the victim got word where they were hiding out and retaliated?
But that didn't happen. My point is that these two being on campus brought no increase in violent crime to the campus... statistically speaking.
Additional point: make sure you children are aware of their surroundings at all times. Stay out of the phones when walking to and from buildings and vehicles. Be aware of transition points. Teach them what to look for and how to maintain situational awareness, because even when we don't hear about it, 1 in 159 students will be the victim of a violent crime this year. Make sure to help them not be one of the 44.

In Louisiana 629 in 100,000 people are victims of violent crimes, or 1 in 159
In 2025 LSU's enrollment is 7,045. So statistically speaking, even without these two murderers on campus, 44 violent crimes will happen to the student population on LSU's campus.
I get that as a father of a daughter on campus you would not want these guys to be there, but the fact is, those two were there hiding out, they weren't going to seek out more crime to bring attention to themselves.
I would venture to imagine that this is not the first situation where a murderer was aided on campus by a student. This is simply the first time an athlete did it, and it gained such widespread notoriety.

1. "We are walking around like we are scared. I want somebody... ANYBODY.. to walk out there, drop your pants and rub your nuts on the mound. So what about it boys? Who's gonna stick their cock in it and let it marinate for a while?"
2. While doing a fall intrasquad and our pitchers couldn't find the zone, he calls the whole staff down to the bullpen and sticks an outfielder on the bump to pitch... "who is on the mound?" we all respond "Jones." He proceeds to say "Jones isn't a pitcher. He is an outfielder. But you motherfrickers are acting like this is the march of dimes out here holding a fricking walk-a-thon. Well let me tell you something... it isn't the march of dimes, and even though we have an outfielder dressed up as a pitcher right now, this isn't halloween either! So get out there and throw some fricking strikes or yall will all wind up working at McDonalds...Trick-or-Treat motherfirckers give me a sandwich."

I was surprised to find victim was also an ASH student. There weren't many bad neighborhoods zoned for that HS back in my day and recent zoning looks similar. Wonder if it is a case of middle class neighborhood kids trying to be hard (we had a few of those in my hood) or if they're actually from poor crime ridden part of town.
Rapides Parish is now open-enrollment meaning you don't have to be zoned for a school anymore in order to attend it. So the kids could have been from anywhere in the parish. I don't have any information on where they lived though. Just adding context that the zones don't matter anymore.
The murder occurred in the 4000 block of Clark Street. (Peabody Zone) This is off of Lee Street not far from Academy, certainly not a spot I go for joy rides.
