He went from a 2000 sq ft house to 4000 sq ft in an affluent area with a pool, then complains about costs?

Furthermore, he moved from San Diego which is has some of the best weather in the country so of course things like weather will be worse.

i mean i get it. he's coming from SD, which has perfect weather almost all year. it's a legit complaint, but he also had a house half the size and apparently, much less nice while paying much more in taxes

I've sincerely never had a bad time in Austin. Don't know where people are going to be treated so rudely but all in all,, I find the people pretty nice and chill.

i've enjoyed some good times on 6th street. as good as a former southern baptist could have i guess.

it's not that everybody is a dick. there's plenty of great people.

i cant' remember where i was recently, but we were checking out and being friendly to the cashier asked if we were from Austin originally. We said "no, both from west Texas." he said, "i could tell you were Texans, because you actually asked about my day and cared. i've been here since 8 AM and i like to ask where people are from originally and native Texans are always the friendly ones." it's an anecdotal story of course.

i'd say it's the overall culture. due to unwanted circumstances i've had to spend a lot of time in the domain and arboretum and the pretentiousness there is through the roof. and the cyclist riding in the middle of the road or on the sidewalks.

i'm obviously conservative and an Aggie fan, so you have to take my biases into account.

Energy is incredibly expensive. You want a big house, and they're so cheap, but then it costs a fortune to heat and cool. We were paying $400 per month during the summer and winter and we were uncomfortable (our thermostat was set to 79 degrees F in the summer, and 65 degrees F in the winter). To be comfortable would have cost us $700 to $1,000 per month.

the frick are they powering. my house is in south louisiana, 3300 sf, less than $200 a month.

Man, he's dumb af to not think about how weather in Texas is not the same as the Bay Area. he clearly did not do enough research and wanted to follow the trend in Tech. I work in tech, I could move to the bay area so I know these types all too well

If you want a California-like lifestyle, you shouldn’t leave California.

Austin has been called an alternative to people not wanting to deal with Cali shite.

He's either a) full of shite, or b) he was heating his pool to 78 degrees all winter

The dude moved to Texas and thought he’d get good Indian food. What a jackass. Also not realizing Texas is hot is another strike. And shocked that people would protect private property. Wow.

Sounds like he listened to his wife's boyfriend about how awesome Texas is and then regretted all the actual men in Texas not understanding why his wife needs the sexual outlet for her personal journey and expression.

stopped reading right here. People in Austin pray for rain - the place will burn to the ground some day due to a summer drought.

This is actually a pretty insightful comment he is making on Austin but doesn’t understand it.

Austin isn’t in the south. Doesn’t share any of the demographics that places east of Houston, really east of 45/288.

People move to Austin and Portland thinking it’s some liberal utopia but it’s educated white flight to Mayo town

That was perhaps the most limp-wristed pussy west coast thing I have ever read. I have more in common with most foreigners than these creatures from the Bay Area.

How was his energy bill so high? Dude probably didn’t shop for an electric company and just stayed with whoever and they jacked his rate to 15 cents a kWh

Got to be on top and change it every few months.

My favorite part is that he’s currently living in CA. He doesn’t even live in Austin anymore but still feels the need to trash it. ANY due diligence on his part would have revealed most of the atrocities before he moved there.
