re: I love the third world and I see no reason why our society doesn't embrace their virtues.

When i lived for a while in Vietnam, i thought i broke my toe so i went to a hospital.. it was as nice, if not nicer- than any hospital ive ever seen in America.. staff spoke almost perfect English, consulted w/a nurse, then a doctor within 20 minutes.. got X-rays done, good news it wasn’t broken.. got some pain relievers prescribed, was out the door within an hour.. paid out of pocket, and the whole thing - visit, X-rays and meds- cost me $65 usd out of pocket…. Pick any hill you want to die on, but comparing modern America’s health care system , with it’s absolutely insane costs and mediocre outcomes- to just about any other country’s healthcare is a fight you will lose resoundingly .

Vietnam is not 3rd world by any measure. It's is considered 2nd world by international standards.
I've been to slums in Karachi, Pakistan, Port a Prince, Haiti, and the barrio outside Lima, Peru... You don't know what 3rd world is.

It’s fairly easy to live in a developing 3rd world country when you have an American bank account to support you. You didn’t live like most of the people in that country, you lived like the top 1% in that country
