Not every sample? Boy is that ever not an exaggeration. Less than one percent of positives are being tested to confirm variant.
Extrapolating is a euphemism for just making stuff up based on non-existing data, which is what you are doing and then accusing others of doing that. Extrapolations are notoriously inaccurate and have to have very precise initial data for accuracy. The algorithms also have to continually change as more precise data is added. They are using subjective measures for their extrapolations in the case of Covid, which is not supported by the very few reliable extrapolation methods.

If the samples taken are of proper distribution and sampling, 1% would be sufficient for variant estimations.

Omicron colonizes in the bronchus 70x more than previous variants but 10x less in the lung. Meaning it is more contagious but you will have less severe cases (hospitalizations and deaths) because not as inflammatory to the lung because less viral load.
Compared to the initial strain and delta each one has started to colonize higher up in the airway and less in the lower airway which is a good thing. Doesn’t matter if more contagious as long as it is getting less severe with each new strain.

How long did you have symptoms? I’m on day 3 and still feeling rough

It responds to Mucinex and other OTC cold meds….just an FYI…you don’t have to stay in bed and miserable with this one….it basically is the flu.

Have you ever had the flu?

About 4 days from start of fever to now feeling no effects.

That would explain all the coughing and mucus I have right now. Good times.
Mucinex Cold and Flu works great btw.

People who are educated in AND work in statistics are NEVER right.
People on the OT board who hate covid are NEVER wrong.

I’m not sure where this idea that getting the flu or a bad cold ever became some walk in the park. Being sick sucks. Especially right now.

there are two levels of sickness for you? The common cold and then so sick you are unable to use a phone?
How about these two:
1. The kind where we have to give up our way of life.
2. The kind where we dont.
I don't care if you have a common cold or a bad flu. I'm not giving up my rights because you are scared to get sick.

It looks to be burning hot & fast.
2 days for symptoms…lasts 3-4 days.
You should be turning the corner soon.

It’s fricking ridiculous. I had an upper respiratory infection earlier this week which I now think was Omicron, and it was fricking weak sauce. Just stayed in bed hacking for a day and that’s it. We’re all getting it in the next few months and if a light breeze isn’t capable of killing you, then Omicron isn’t either.

Regardless of what the Wuhan virology lab did to the virus in their research, I still have a tough time believing it was released intentionally. My current theory is that a lab worker accidentally got infected, took it home with him, got others sick, and the CCP covered up all evidence of a lab leak.
Yep. When it comes to the government it’s always best to assume gross incompetence is the case.

Hospitalizations are down, % of vaccinated contracting is up.

This stuff is running through our hood like a freight train through a Mardi Gras parade. Including myself and wife, I know of a shite ton of families with it right now. Dozens and dozens of families. Not bad at all, like a runny nose and light cough. Lasts a couple of days. No biggie.

Yep…almost a certainty.
Mrs Eli Goldfinger was complaining of a sinus infection this morning, so I tested her. Positive.
I had a headache with fatigue and night sweats last night. I’m feeling pretty decent today. We only have 1 test left, so I’m just going to assume I also have omicron.
