You're replaceable
Of course, I am. But it is going sting for my current company for a while. They aren't that big and have a hard time keeping employees because of the stress of the projects and the hours needed to keep their schedules.. and they keep to their scheduled completion dates, which is why they have the clientele that they do.

You should drop a deuce on your bosses desk and exert your dominance.

Just don't drive the company vehicle for personal use and you're good.

Sounds like they should be paying premium prices with noted dead periods.

My advice: leave and don’t look back. Just make a clean break and move on. You wanted to leave for a reason. Those reasons will still exist even if they offer you more money.
Maybe. Just to put a dollar amount on it, my last bonus was 30k. And they covered the taxes on it. They do give money, but like you said, it's not guaranteed.
Also, at the end of projects, I'm working 14-16 hour days just to make sure we're finished by our promised delivery date. My bosses demand we finish a project by their promised completion date, no matter the cost.

My new job pays out the gate a base salary of what I made last year bonus included, gas card, company truck, 4% match on 401k and 75% paid insurance for entire family.
You made the right call

Best raises come with moves to another company. Just how it is.
If your company counters and you stay you will be off the table at the other company for awhile. You can always leave and come back in a year with another raise.

If you have to go get another job to get your current employer to offer you a better comp package, it's best leave that situation.

I've kicked a hornet's nest within my current company and I'm sure they will come with an offer I can't refuse.
Don’t look back. Take the new offer. All of the added benefits you listed cannot be made up with in a counter offer.

I was offered the new job Friday afternoon. I thought about it over the last 2 days and called my boss to get his thoughts. He wasn't happy that I even floated the idea of leaving.
quote:
The current job offers health insurance to me 100% of the cost, none to my family unless I pay for it ($900 a month) it offers no company vehicle, no gas compensation and no 401k or retirement options. I also work on average about 60-65 hours a week.
That's your answer right there. If you're working like a dog and getting fricked on benes it's no wonder your current boss is pissed that you are leaving, you're saving him a frickton of money.
He may make you a competitive offer, but he may be the type who decides that you're putting him in that position is "disloyalty" then just bide his time until he thinks your other offer has expired, then kick you to the curb.
Take the offer and run.

Think of it this way, the bonus is the amount of extra work you put in. That's not guaranteed, how would you feel doing the same work for no bonus? Because that can and likely will occur.
Companies who are that skilled, albeit small, pay a premium to keep quality employees to ensure consistent production. If they don't, than they aren't as worried as you think they are.

Take the new job. Current company sounds like a dead end with cheap pay and long hours. The vehicle and fuel card is a $15-20K bonus itself.
Take the new gig and don’t look back.

Damn bro. Sounds awesome. I’m considered “ unemployable “ apparently and haven’t had a square job since the 90s. I hate the man and he hates me. Can you lend me some of that health insurance, baw?

I agree with this. Never look back!

Sounds like going for the new job is clearly the better deal. No brainer.

You’re gone mentally.
Do not accept a counter.
Take the new job and run
