are you willing to get involved or make a difference? Help existing organizations raise awareness? Talk to your kids school and help put on a event? Reach out to your community leaders to see what is currently being done and volunteer your time?
No because you will get doxed for fat shaming.

I don't remember seeing where her initiatives have failed? They are all still in place. She also started the "Lets Move!" campaign, to get kids in schools more physically active - which was and is a success.
I agree, good intent, execution needed a lot of work - but 7 years later and we have real change in our schools that kids now accept. Parents, as always, need to step up and mimic good eating habits and exercise at home. Cheetos and koolaid should not be a staple in homes, but in low income homes, it unfortunately is.
Schools COULD spend money on nutrition education but if they don't, they are choosing not to, and focus instead on testing and scores.
There are a million ways to look at this problem and approach the problem. The important thing is to admit there IS a problem, and we agree on that.

It won't matter if the parents don't do the same thing at home. Parents are the problem.
You're right, but this is a dumb way to look at it. Kids spend just as much time at school and they do at home during school days. If you instill those healthy eating values 50% of the time instead of 0% of the time it will make a difference. It won't solve the problem overnight, but it will help

Time to end the breakfast charade. Lunch being your first meal of the day should be the norm.
This site cracks me up. Do you think people in the 60s and 70s were doing intermittent fasting or keto? No. They just were not guzzling soda, eating fast food all the time, and were active outdoors.

It’s because you can’t tell anyone they’re overweight or you are accused of body shaming. Even as a medical professional. People just don’t want to admit they are at fault for the way they are.
Why would you care enough to tell someone? I am sure they are aware of the situation. I don't think, "telling everyone they are fat", is going to solve the issue. To each their own though.

Seriously the govt should ban sugars and processed foods. It would be nice to see those fatties squirm for a change.

No shite
Our lifestyles have evolved. Our eating habits need to evolve as well.
I think its coming, much like smoking was the norm back in the day.
Sugar is going regulated/taxed at some point. Its coming.

Obesity in the US is the biggest health crisis we face.

Jesus, sugar doesn't make you fat, excess calories do. Maybe the government should ban you from posting show you don't show your ignorance.
Or how about the government should just allow fat people to eat themselves into an early grave.

That is fricking disgusting.
Obesity needs to be treated like smoking.

Sugar is without a doubt... killing people. It is a drug, hands down. There are some VERY good books and research out there right now about the case against sugar.
Everyone is saying "back in my day you didn't see all these issues", it is 95% traced to sugar and the sugar industry. I've done my fair share of research and it is wild.
