There's been a lot of smoke over the last year that Buc-ees are interested in putting one off 49 in Ellic. Loves is fighting it like hell. The rumor is they've already bought the land and want to start building in 2025.

LA could support 3-4 locations. It's not insane to think one in Ruston, one in central LA off 49 in Ellic, and two on I-10... one between the baisn bridge and Lobdell, and one between Lake Chuck and the Texas line.

And probably build in that order.

Your definition of "an hour away from the beach" is way different from mine because neither Calhoun, GA nor Warner Robins, GA fit that description.

Buc-ees fan boys are just people that haven’t been fortunate enough to stop at Woodys in Centerville.

I love me some Woody’s.

It’s not the same thing.

If there is one town in Louisiana that should get a Bucees, it is Ruston.

It is a perfect fit for both the city and the business.

Just messing with you. It was a funny comment to me though.

Ruston isn't a bad town. My uncle went to college there at Tech and I got to visit a few times years ago and then again about 5 or so years ago. Compared to most of Louisiana, it's above average. I'm sure the decline of Louisiana's bigger cities have greatly helped it too. I'd imagine the future is brighter than a lot of other places in Louisiana.

Ruston Buc-ees sounds horrific

But you’re 10 minutes away from Squire Creek.

Buccees has been around in Texas for decades and locations are not near the beach.

No, it would lose its appeal then. If RSN happens to get one, then that would be plenty for La. Maybe an i10 one later.

It gets made fun of on here all the time but I like the BBQ.
I go to the one by the Fla./ Ala. line several times a year. Just try not to go at midday on weekends when there are massive traffic jams getting in and out of the parking lot.

It's amazing how Ruston has transformed the last 20 years. It is basically the Mandeville of North Louisiana. Lot of money, it's nice, clean & safe. It is the only place in North Louisiana I would consider retiring to.

I like their fuel prices. Be warned, though, that they are very proud of all their merchandise and food. Very, very proud.

If my north LA parents are still kicking when I retire, I may move to Ruston. Spent time there and in Baton Rouge. As a kid, BR was fun, but as an adult Ruston is way ahead.

If not, then North Carolina is likely our new home.
