We get donuts brought to our office by vendors or contractors almost on a daily basis.

don't know why some y'all get so mad at this. Every person/household has their own habits and routines. It's not that unbelievable that lots of people haven't had a donut in years.

Who's mad? And thanks for providing your eating habits as I said

The donut place here in palm beach gardens Florida is like 15 for a dozen now and has lines out the door.

I bought a dozen mixed donuts Friday, next door to the vet where I dropped off my pet for shots.

With tax, over $15.00 for that one dozen. I had no idea they had gotten that expensive.

I imagine donut shops are making a shitload of money charging those prices.

Guy in front of me paid over $40 for whatever he had just purchased.

I love doughnuts. They are great with coffee, milk or just by themselves. And I'm not fat.

Any time I've gone to the donut shop near my neighborhood after 8am, they were always sold out of glazed and fritters. So people are obviously buying.

Have you ever been to a District Donuts? They are always busy. The cheap one by my house is always busy too. I'll stop by and get my son a donut on the weekend sometimes and I'm the only one ordering a single donut. Everyone else is getting them by the dozen for work or a cheap breakfast for the family.

Huh. That's interesting. I can't even remember the last time I bought a donut, much less a dozen of them. I never even really think about getting a donut. I ran across a donut shop today on a job I was doing. It was afternoon and their case was full. I wondered what they do with all of them at the end of the day. They must throw out a bunch of them each day. Or maybe they sell them to a gas station or something.

Many of the families you see in them are refugees who had their visas sponsored by someone here and the donut shop is a low cost/high margin business where they can maintain steady employment.

The ones around here make bank if they're open on Sunday mornings. Some churches will go buy 15-20 dozen and distribute among Sunday school classes. So you have one customer walk in and buy the same thing for the same price every week, and it is much easier than 20 people walking in and buying a half dozen or a dozen and dealing with them one at a time.

I'd love a Bavarian creme filled donut with a couple of kolaches. But I don't eat that stuff anymore.

Yeah, that makes sense.

The businesses that really make me scratch my head are specialty drink shops. Even local coffee shops, if they don't have a drive-thru.

Even if they're fairly popular with the coffee drinking community, most people only go in for 1 drink. I've sat at local coffee shops between meetings when traveling for work, and seldom see anyone go back up to the counter for additional items. And some of them sit there for hours.

Or like, boba tea. I doubt people are buying that in bulk like they do coffee or donuts for the office. How are they staying open? Are enough people going in daily for a boba drink?

I get donuts whenever I feel like the office staff is about to mutiny.

It usually buys us some goodwill.
