It’s just like short hair. Can a girl with short hair or tattoo look good? Of course, but in every single instance they would look better without.

LOL I work with a bunch of women with tattoos. (It seems like the majority of the young crowd do nowadays.) I've asked a few, and they regret them in some fashion. (Either some stupid, "Hello Kitty" tattoo or they complain that they have sensitive skin and the inks affect them negatively somehow.)
Of course, some defend their decision as if it was their child, but you can see through it as rationalizing terrible decision making.

Its also a massive turn off for me, which is a shame because I came of age in the butterfly tramp stamp era and that cut the talent pool in half

People intentionally do a lot of things that make them inherently less attractive, but they are likely making themselves more attractive to a specific niche audience. It’s a strategy designed to narrow competitors and increase ones chances of mating. Businesses and politicians employ niche strategies all the time because it works. It works with attracting mates just as well.
