This. It is quite easy to affordably cook at home. You just have to think and plan a little bit.

I can see four different restaurants from my desk at work. They're all busy.

Maybe your perception is being altered by DoorDash and Uber Eats drivers becoming most of the audience of a lot of fast food and quick service restaurants. The average poor slob on Financial audit orders DoorDash 15 times a month. For regular restaurants, there are crowds constantly in my area.

In my opinion an equally big issue is the poor quality of the typical young worker. Jeeez! The quality of the typical waiter or waitress has tanked big time!

I am absolutely convinced that Door Dash and Uber Eats and the like is largely responsible for the myth that inflation is out of control. Prices have indeed gone up but other than 20 and 21 inflation has been pretty constant for about 20 years. Door dash and the like costing folks $10 to order and eat $10 worth of food for a total of $20 is financially stupid, and that's being nice. If you have the means and like the convenience by all means have at it - we use them from time to time and its great....but we don't go on and on and on about inflation, we know why that meal costs what it does - it would be the same if you bought groceries at a convenience store...its convenience, not inflation.

Gas prices are another one. Yes, they are high. The thing is if you drive 15,000 miles a year at 20 MPG at $2 a gallon it will cost $1500, at $4 it will be $3000. It is a a shock to go from $2 - $4 but the reason it seems so harsh is folks putting 40K miles a year on a vehicle that gets 12 MPG by keeping the damn thing in the road non stop running around buying shite that winds up in a storage shed or goodwill.

Hard work too.
Know people that out in 60-70 hours week trying to make it
