I'm so sorry for your loss. It's not common knowledge that sago palms are so poisonous. Don't blame yourself. Kudos for sharing the info.

There are lots of things we might not know that are poisonous to dogs...so for the person who calls you shitty for not taking care of your dog....I say
They must be a fricking expert or just an arse.
I'll make sure your pup didn't die in vain at my house and make sure there's no Sago planted around me..and make sure there's none around if we ever go anywhere where my pups might get a hold to some.

Truly sorry to hear this. I'm going to show this to my gf. She has several Sago Palms with pups in her yard that I've been asking to remove for this very reason for years. Hoping that this will finally convince her.

As an FYI, Sago palms are bad news for kids as well. If you have dogs or kids, the palms should go.
Pro tip: If you post on Craigslist that somebody can have it for free if they dig it up, some sucker will come do all the work.
I figured this out only after I dug up the two in the back, but at least I didn't have to dig up the beast in the front.

Sorry for your loss OP. I've got a 4 yo Boykin myself, and if be a wreck if something happened. Just remember the good times and not the last 24-48 hrs
