shite man.
I'm so sorry. This makes me feel really lucky to have escaped losing my Weimer so many years ago. They really should sell those shitty palms with a tag warning people who but them.

Forgive me for this homage to our former best friend, dog lovers know how close they can get to you. Why does it seem the worst puppies somehow become the greatest dogs?

Even though I'm shitfaced now, it should because that is what I intended. She was the sweetest, goofiest thing on the planet and I prefer she be remembered that way.

I know we can't do this for every pet and mine wasn't special to anyone else here so I'll stop. I do hope that what happened here may save someone else's pet though. Good night everyone, I'm done with the heart strings...

ANother plant that is very deadly to dogs is an Oleander bush...hugely popular on the Gulf Coast. A customer of mine had her 4 beagle pups outside when she went to work, she came home and all 4 were dead from chewing/eating on them. That woman was devastated. I moved in my house a couple years ago and ripped 18 of em up to protect my dog. Yeah they are a very beautiful and fast growing bush, but my dog's life means more to me than a plant.

That sucks dude. I think I'd lose my shite if my dog died.

My wife and I spent... Too much money when her cat got into some lilies. Had to put her and the other cat (as a precaution) on dialysis. Lilies cause renal failure in cats.

They both lived, but it was pretty terrible. Then the one that buried her face in the lilies died of lymphoma some years later. Couldn't tell you if it was a result of the lilies or not, but damn. Pretty hard to take. She was only 8.

It would be great if our dogs could just die in their sleep, but it rarely happens, one of the most hard parts of owning a dog. I've never had a dog that didn't have to be put down in the end.

It's unfortunate how your dog died, but it could have happened to anyone so try not to feel too bad. There are a lot of foods/other items that are harmful to dogs and it's hard to keep track of.

Your story here will likely help not only you, but others in keeping their dogs safe in the future.

As one of the few Boykin Spaniel owner's in the state of Oregon, I know what a truly loving and gentle dog they are. I feel for you and our prayers go out to you and you family.

We don't have Sago Palms here in Oregon, but I'm sure we have other plants that may be equally heinous. I'm going to do a little research to find native plants in Oregon that may harm my Boykin.

Man so sorry for your loss, such an unfortunate occurrence. I will make sure that I don't have any Sago Palms around any dog I own in the future because of this thread. RIP to your little buddy and friend.

If there's one thing the OT can rally around, it's dogs. You don't have to stop.
