I'm so sorry to hear that

I lost a friendly little 1 year old daschund that chewed on a sago root. Lived a week at the vet. It was hard to go hold her while the vet put her to sleep. Never forget her last moan.

I had a 20 lbs adult dog ingest 3/4 of a sago nut. Started acting lethargic within an hour. Took her to vet and shortly after started showing signs of liver toxicity. ProTime started increasing sharply so we had to put him down before he started to hemorrhage internally. We quickly got rid of the sago's in the yard and have never planted another at any subsequent house we have lived in.
Sorry for your dog and hope for the best.

That sucks buddy, really hope she pulls through. Mine got in the pantry and ate about 3lbs of semi-sweet bakers chocolate. Luckily she pulled through but I know how bad it sucks. Stay strong.

It is absolutely awful to hear this. You can tell the OT actually takes their faithful animals to heart just by the contents of this forum compared to the norm.
I sincerely hope, and pray, for a recovery for your dog!
I think everyone can we agree that we do really appreciate you bringing this here because many people, including myself, did not know about this.
Best of luck to you and your family in the coming days!

Blood work will indicate how much the kidneys have been affected.
What is the dog's creatinine levels?

We just got back from visiting with her while they were giving her second plasma transfusion. She could tell we were there and wagged her tail for a bit before she nodded off again.
I didn't catch her creatine levels but her inr is way high so she's getting vitamin k to help her clot so she doesn't start bleeding internally. I'm fully aware about clotting issues because I have a few genetic clotting disorders and live on Eliquis. Was on warfarin before that and vitamin k was the devil in terms of keeping my inr in range.

Man, that is tough stuff. Sorry to hear. I hope it is some comfort that you have educated quite a few folks on this danger.
