I get that but at the same time it’s probably 100 degrees outside and old people wear jeans and long sleeves t shirts year round. At the end of the day it’s another human in need of a hand.

Absolutely. The least he could have done was call 911 and remain with the man until paramedics arrived.

It's easy to second guess but it seems obvious the driver should have called the police.

In a mildly related story, the wife worked at a bank years ago, spent extra time helping an elderly woman setup online banking only to later have her manager complain to her that what she was doing wasn't generating the bank income and she shouldn't take the time to help non revenue generating customers.

My sister works for a tech support company and she got a suicidal phone call. Per company standards she stayed on the phone until the 911 peeps got to the house, but they refused to remove that call from her statistics, which means it inflated her per Customer phone time thus making her look worse.

Can't blame the driver. For all he knows they could have blamed him for the fall. Said he attacked him. The real problem is the idiot daughter letting him roam around with dementia and weak legs.

This is the correct answer. Those drivers, and many other employees who come into contact with the general public, are instructed not to help in situations like that. It is a liability concern for the individual and the company, and you can bet your arse past lawsuits are the reason for such policies. That said, I never saw for sure if the guy called for help or not, but he should have, and there is no excuse if he didn't.

Liability, simply. If the man was injured further as a result of the driver's attempt to help him, it opens the driver and the company up to potential lawsuits.
I'm sure, even without further injury, frivolous lawsuits have been filed in the past.
I don't know how Good Samaritan Protection laws apply to a company or representatives of a company, though.

This is a bunch of bullshite...I’ve always been told if you are trained in first aid you render help in good faith, you can’t be held liable....?
