Horrible. Just horrible. I had previously been under the impression that you could think.

You’re a dumbass.
I can’t wait to see St. George pass, largely because of the disgusting tactics of the Baton Rouge trash.

Businesses don’t move to BR because we have the worst school system in the state. This forces the workers of the business to spend thousands of dollars to send their kids to private schools thereby lowering discretionary spending. If we had a large school district with good performing schools, more businesses would move to the area.
Also the crime statistics would look great for future residents because St. George wouldn’t be included in the Baton Rouge numbers.

Judge John Parker fired the killshot at BR like 40 years ago with the deseg case. Now it's in the endgame and the people who still live here are trying to save it.
When it's all said and done, the race card is gonna get waved around and BR is going to turn into Jackson, Miss. Then all of the people with money will be in the surrounding parishes and Texas.
Wasnt desegregation a national order? I dont understand why Parker gets the hate, he just did what every other Southern state was forced to do.
Another note is that there are many schools that are desegregated that to this day are actually pretty decent institutions.
Look, if you want your kids to go to a pure white school, then private and boarding school options are available.

My answer to the anti-St. George people is "why is it a bad thing to keep people in EBR Parish?" The parish gets something if people stay in the area, but pretty much nothing if they move to Livingston or Ascension Parishes
Well, you're dealing with many of the same people who were mad Exxon wasn't paying "enough" taxes, so they incentive Exxon to take steps to eventually pay no taxes by leaving the city.

Op you have legit points, but you simply can't do that forever. How many people move out of BR for these issues the creating St George would mostly fix? How many people and businesses as said don't move there because of said issues?
The only way to force people to change is by forcing them to take their own action. They are relying on other people's money instead of making change themselves. You take the money away, and that at least forces them to face the facts and budget they have made for themselves.

It will be good for north and south BR. South BR will see more of their tax money spent in their neighborhoods.
North BR will be able to learn the dignity of work, and putting forth an effort to feed themselves. The added tax burden in NBR will welcome them to the real world. Their taxes will get raised sky high because Sharon-Hyphen-Broom is going to be paid, and needs to pay for studies.
An education is about to be had.

He was a federal judge, yes. So I guess he was bound by Jimmy Carter's (who nominated him) policies.
But as a lifelong BR resident, he should've known what he was doing to the community.

The current battle cry of retired Gen. Russel Honore. I guess he can't stand being retired from the military so he stirs up shite for fun from his University Club estate.

He lived in the Alexandria area. He had no idea what he was doing about, or to, Baton Rouge.
Bussing kids from Sherwood past Broadmoor high to Tara was sofa king stew pit.

Central, Baker and Zachary did not break off. They were never part of Baton Rouge. They are still in EBR Parish. They have simply incorporated into new cities in EBR Parish. Baton Rouge was free to annex them at any time. They never did. They did however annex the Mall of LA. That gives you a good idea where Baton Rouge's head is.

Per Wikipedia:
Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Parker received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University in 1949 and a Juris Doctor from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1952. He was in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, remaining in the United States Army Reserve until 1964. He was in private practice in Baton Rouge from 1954 to 1979, also serving as an assistant parish attorney of the City of Baton Rouge in the Parish of East Baton Rouge, from 1956 to 1966.[1]
On May 24, 1979, Parker was nominated by President Jimmy Carter to a new seat on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana created by 92 Stat. 1629. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on September 25, 1979, and received his commission on September 26, 1979.[1] He served as Chief Judge from 1979 to 1998, assuming senior status on October 31, 1998, serving until his death on July 14, 2014, at his home in Baton Rouge.[2][3]

I don't think it works that way in Louisiana. I believe the people have to vote or petition to be annexed.
