I'm not sure how Hydrogen Peroxide in the ears fixes the flu, but grapes apparently have Anti-Viral properties. Here's a study from the NIH

You need to do a hydrogen peroxide enema to really knock the tougher strains of flu out. Gargle the discharge to get rid of strep

The flu or colds like to get all up in the upper respiratory tract, which isn't the ear canal. So how the hell would flushing the ears with H2O2 do anything to degrade the flu virus?

Hydrogen Peroxide is great for softening ear wax for removal, or as someone said gargling for mouth wash. I don't see how it could help cure the flu in any way.

My kid had just turned 5 last year when she contracted the flu. Took her immediately to her pediatrician, she tested positive, and was prescribed Tamiflu.
About 24 hours later she was no longer running a fever. She probably had a fever for about 36 hours max. The biggest problem was getting her to rest. She was bouncing off the walls, but would tire easily and get grumpy.
Kids have an amazing ability to recover quickly. There are different strains of the flu and people are affected differently by the virus.
My daughter was prescribed Tamiflu and recovered in less than 24 hours. She was sick for less than 2 days. I'm smart enough to know that she was lucky. Tamiflu might have helped, but it's not a miracle drug. Your cousin hasn't found a miracle cure either. Her kid was lucky or wasn’t tested.

My wife swears by peroxide in the ear and a bunch of other natural remedies. Some work and some don't. I have let her PIIME but it just popped then fizzed.

The flu virus infects from one small location in your nose, hence the nasal spray vaccines. If you're catching the flu through your auditory canal you got bigger problems than the flu and hydrogen peroxide ain't gonna fix it.

I use some natural remedies (along with medicine when needed). I have small eustachian tubes and get ear infections like a 2 year old. Not sure about the flu, but the HP definitely prevents ear infections. I haven't had the flu (knock wood), so maybe it helps with that as well. Grape juice is good at preventing migraines, and I hear stomach bugs. But who knows?
ETA: wouldn't hurt to try. It's cheap, keeps your ears clean, and feels nice.

I always heard to put the mint Chapstick on your ears to prevent the flu. I know it's crazy but I've done it as long as I can remember and I've never gotten sick

Side note to everyone else in this thread- Putting hydrogen peroxide in the ears is like putting hydrogen peroxide in a belly button. It's just touching skin. There is an eardrum at the end of the ear canal. They only thing HP does is help soften cerumen that may be present in the canal.
This "natural remedy to cure the flu" is a joke.

ETA: There are numerous other respiratory viruses that are also commonplace this time of year(RSV, rhinovirus, coronavirus, etc).

Hydrogen Peroxide does a fine job of breaking up earwax but doesn't do a damn thing for respiratory infections. Unless her son is an alien that uses its ears to breathe.

Ever hear of the 24 hour stomach flu? First off, the flu is a virus. It doesn't enter through the ears. So pouring peroxide in his ears would t help.
Secondly, wtf is a sugary drinks like grape juice going to do? It has no medicinal value.
Thirdly, if she is trying this backwoods hillbilly crap then I guarantee she is misdiagnosing what the kid really has.
Fourth, people are idiot's. It's scary that some have kids.

Stupid statements like these are so frustrating. It isn't an either or world. Natural remedies still need a target. Modern doctors can be very useful in diagnosing. Just because you go to a doctor doesn't mean you have to do what they suggest for treatment.
That would only make sense if you thought a doctor didn't know how to diagnose and only throws guesses out on how to treat something while not knowing what the something is.
