I think Rummy has turned over a new leaf. He was in another thread chastising a poster for asking about the Texas drought.

Extremely rare to have a storm come off Africa this time of year
I think only 3 have ever done it

The Gulf wont be a fun time for a hurricane for the next week or two. Plus, troughing over the SE would tend to push things away.
I find myself coming to rds' line of thinking... Im more worried about July.

Looks like #Bret wants to join Chris (2006) and Isaac (2018) in the inglorious ranks of decoupled/naked swirl El Niño MDR storms haha. Although to be fair I think this one is more just driven by climatologically-strong June trade winds for now.

Bret isnt going to get strong enough to get too far north, it doesnt appear.
So the easterlies will be in control of his track. No chance to strengthen once deep in the Caribbean. Probably gets buried in the Yucatan.

Taking the family to Grand Cayman (Rum Point) on Saturday (6/24) for a week. Does anyone have any early predictions for my trip and if we might end up canceling the trip due to TS Bret ?
