Has Tampa ever received a direct hit from a hurricane? Good luck Florida. They really don't need that.

I don't understand why Louisiana is completely un-threatened by Milton. Why is La. not in the running to be hit by Milton?

Thanks.

We’re supposed to be leaving next Saturday morning for Sanibel. What are we looking like intensity wise? Should I go ahead and plan on backyard beers and a staycation?

OK, thanks, Baw.

I wonder if closeness to the eye and wind speed also play a part?

Like with Helene, a cold front is saving us again...

I love when these fronts start rolling down.

Why are the hurricanes going the opposite direction this year?

Because of fronts. They direct the path of the storms.

It’s been over 100 years. 1921 a cat 3 hurricane was the last direct hit on Tampa. They’ve been very fortunate still a few days til landfall, and things can and will change, but it’s going to be a close call.

It would be terrible for Tampa and it would be bad for WNC to have their plight get pushed aside for the latest tragedy.

Unnerving to see all the models showing such powerful solutions right now
