How many named storms originated in that general area of the GOM this year? Will this be four or five?

This could be the doom cane for Tampa if it stays on that track

Only two have been tagged for genesis in the BOC. Francine was tagged in the WCAB, although it was pretty close to the Yucatan at the time.

It is pretty rare for a storm to form in this area in October and move from west to east.

Good idea, especially since our government has decided they are out of our money to give to Americans yet still have plenty of our money to give to non-Americans.

Do you not recall Zeta that came on October 26th?

Although it moved more NE than west to east.

Juan was also one that formed near the coast around the same time, but he was more a Juanita since he hung around and didn’t know when to leave.

And the right-hand side of it would hit my mother-in-law down in Venice.

Zeta formed in 2020 in the WCAB. It took a more traditional track for this time of year, eventually hooking NE into Louisiana.

Fed response to DeSantis on the dock worker strike.

Now they can't undo it?

Good video on the potential of a major hurricane strike on Tampa area. If you know anyone in the area that may not be aware, let them know.

Believe it or not, it has been 103 years since a major hurricane hit close to Tampa and 56 years since a Cat 2 hit. The surge for Helene was 5-7 feet and was bad. This potentially could be twice that or more and reach much farther inland if the worst case track and a strong hurricane were to happen.

Still 4 days out so things could change, but currently the forecast is for strong cat2 or low end cat3 just south of Tampa Bay.
