Thought for sure he was gone. I remember when his car started floating.

A buddy of mine left Orange Beach to head home to Baton Rouge. His condo is on the top floor (13th).

He took off because once the power goes off, you can't raise the storm windows and the elevators don't work, not to mention all the other issues.

Zone 2 about a half block from the beach but base elevation is 28'. Home was built 7 years ago so it’s a tank. We have a whole home generator so the neighbors moved all their stuff to my freezers and will likely be spending the next week living there. I'm back in LA so they can stay as long as they need.

Yeah pretty much everything on the gulf is 20’+ from Miramar to 30A to west PCB.

It’s the backflow flooding from the bays that shuts down roads and floods out houses.

And it’s about to be a very good time to be a dock builder on the emerald coast because Sally sucked half of them out of the bay and this one will likely do the same.

Recon just punched E eyewall and clocked some of the highest flight level winds yet at 118kt. By my recall, this is 2nd highest of its kind. Strongest flight level wind observation before that was 120kt on the last flight, and I think it was just one obs at that. These are not surface level winds but still indication that Isaias is more than holding it’s on in the fight against the wind shear and dry air. Honestly impressed.

Wasn’t that where he bailed out of his car and broke into a house to ride it out as we watched his dashcam slowly sink as the car was swept out to sea?

After riding out Milton, my wife and I both agreed that we are out of here during any storm going forward.

I know a guy that lives in Alabama that goes to hurricane damaged places just to rebuild docks and fix exterior siding, etc. He makes a good bit of money in those stretches I believe. Rest of the time he's a general contractor and eeks by I believe.

I would put in a bypass to use a generator for that.

The Weather Channel just interviewed some Alabama students in Tuscaloosa and asked one of them what he did to prepare. I shite you not, his response was that he “put up a bunch of bricks on the wall”.

Those weren't students. Just random guys from Virginia who were leaving the beach and decided to stop in tuscaloosa for the weekend.

But yeah the brick laying was odd

Yeah the divergence aloft really helped the storm the last day.

Ahh ok! I caught it in the middle so I must’ve missed that. Still, it was funny

Convective bursts still firing along entire western side of eyewall. Eastern side is surprisingly weakest appearing eyewall on IR at the moment.
