Pretty incredible how this might make landfall in Homestead exactly where Andrew did. Andrew wiped Homestead off the map. Hopefully they'll be ready this time.

I pray that you'll be able to say that a week from now.
Amen to that but I really meant seen in person. There have been a lot of bad things to happen since 1969. But my family drove through Gulfport a few weeks after Camille. As a kid I couldn't make sense of the devastation I saw. I gained a healthy respect for nature that day.

I like that he was pretty clear about it though.
But... was he as clear as Shep?
I think he was this clear:

the outflow from Katia will play a role in determining how Irma interacts with the piece of energy that dives in behind that trough.
Can you go into more detail on that?

How many times you think they have muttered "But I lived through Camille" in protest?
In Florida? Probably very few of them.

This is gonna fricking suck for South Florida.
I really hope she veers off, but it's not looking good. Hoping she cools off a bit, I remember Camille, we went to Biloxi not long after she went through and I'm still amazed at how bad it was.

They didn't miss the 8PM Thursday forecast (made on Sunday) by very far. Almost the same latitude, logitude off by a few miles further west.

Irma really has it out for Florida.

Worst case is she misses Cuba but stays farther south and the north turn is less pronounced, which puts her in the gulf before she turns.
Haven't seen one thing to suggest this is even a possibility so technically its not a possible scenario
