Outer eyewall has basically taken over on this past microwave pass.

Is this thing going to keep tracking more west? My wife has family in Zephyhills (tampa) and I'm getting worried.

How many times you think they have muttered "But I lived through Camille" in protest?

Still a Cat 5 but this would mean a larger wind field will result as the outer eyewall takes over.

if the outer eyewall has in fact cycled out the inner... when would intensification theoretically begin?

The outflow from Irma is just dominating the surrounding upper level environment. That and the outflow from Katia will play a role in determining how Irma interacts with the piece of energy that dives in behind that trough.

I pray that you'll be able to say that a week from now.

Crazy how the same ppl making all these maps are the same ones telling us about global warming yet we ignore those diagrams.

Wish we had more microwave passes and that the current recon had streaming radar.

Outer eye wall is now showing more intense winds than the inner wall.

And after Camille destoyed in Mississippi, she came up to the mountains of Virginia and rained more than 36inches in several hours. Mudslides roared down the Blue Ridge Mountains, killing people as they slept.

I was in Grad School and our Groundwater course visited the area before all of the bodies had been recovered. James Hack wrote about the mass movements of soil and rock, so maybe someone will go to his work to warn the mountains. I knew that area before the flood, and several places I had seen a year or two earlier no longer looked anything like after Camille. Water that lifted solid rocks four and five feet in diameter.

I'll never forget the smell of rotting human bodies.

How does that CIMSS deal with the microwave imagery work? Where are they getting the images to make those animated gifs?
