Not worth the risk or being with out power for a week or 2 in the summer. If y'all are questioning staying or going, just go. Don't even think twice.

If the storm misses you but you evacuated, you are out a few hundred bucks.

Starting to seriously look like the northern leeward islands are going to get hit by two separate hurricanes, just 4 days apart. The first one being a cat 5. Literally no way to survive that you would think

Any live camera feeds on the approaching islands?

Here are some from St. Barth's, which is right in the path of the eye. Not that great now because it's night but if you check them out early in the morning (4am ish) then you could probably see some action.....assuming they stay online. LINK

I'm in Tampa. So is Orlando far enough inland or is literally the best bet to go to GA?

I know we will know more in the morning, but I am just trying to wrap my head around this. I have never had to do this before.

I was looking at how this hurricane is moving a minute ago and it looks like it's still moving westward to me. That's actually late on the projected tracks to move it WNW right?

Also, the eye will probably replace itself many times as it approaches west. Does that have any impact on the track when it consistently reforms north or south where it is?

I've read some here say they'd leave the Orlando area. I'm in Louisiana so I'm not much help. What I will tell you is I'd assume you'll lose power and for who knows how long. That sucks in the summer.

What is holding you back? Work? No place to go? Money? If none of these are factors just go.

Orlando is not far enough inland and is in the path. Go northwest.

This is about the only time I feel my taxes, and yours, are properly spent. Thank god for these flights in and out of this storm. These guys have been working their asses off. First the Houston hurricane for days. Then reposition equipment to the Caribbean (this includes mechanics, pilots, aircraft, parts etc.) now they have been in this storm for what, a week already with another week to come. Then, pack it all up and move it back to Biloxi/Gulfport.

Oh, wait there is that other one behind Irma and a month and a half left to the season.

As others have noted earlier in the thread, the farther north and west as you can get.

I would do GA just for some peace of mind

I wouldn't go east to evacuate from Tampa. I'd go north.

I feel like Orlando will be like those that evacuated to Jackson for Katrina - it might seem like a safe call, but you also probably will lose power if it is a direct hit.

ETA Where in Tampa? IDK where all you tampa baws were when i was living there...

My girlfriends mom and little sisters live in Orlando, and I'm begging them to come here to Louisiana.
