FEMA reimburses travel fees during storms. Save receipts. Don't stay in the path. Go stay somewhere, clear your mind and forget about it until it's over. No sense living through misery especially when you know FEMA will just give you your money back.

You're saying to go when? I know the smartest thing wild be to leave now. Better safe than sorry. However , that's not easy for most people. Is waiting until Friday to see what this does between now and then just dumb? Sorry, y'all , this is a first for me. I know these are stupid questions to many of you who have been through this nightmare. I trust y'all more than the tv , websites , the Governor , etc. Again , thank you to all who have helped explain all of this. I've learned a lot but still know very little.
I'm planning on making a decision Thursday night and leaving that night/early AM Friday if I choose to, but that's also factoring in my location and how much easier it is for me to reach relative "safety.".
This is also my first major storm too, moved here from AR in 2015, so I'm not a seasoned expert on protocol in this situation either.

Might be a good weekend to tour Nashville or Memphis if they haven't been. Depends on how things look Thursday morning really.

One of my best friends is on all of the Florida Emergency Management conference calls, next call is 11:15 EST, if anything comes up on there that isn't discussed on here, I'll update you guys. So far nothing has been covered on there worth discussing.

I will never understand people who don't listen to the warnings and stay through this stuff.
I do feel bad for the families who live paycheck to paycheck, especially with kids, and just accounting for gas money is an issue, much less a hotel room for an extended while.
The people who just want to stick around because they don't think the worst could happen. Shame on them.

My friend shouldn't have to evacuate Gainesville, right?

If I was single, I'd ride it out honestly. Videos alone will go viral and get some money I bet.
