From what I've seen on the models and cones and such, this storm is still 5-6 days from making that northern turn. They seem to be confident this will happen but I've always read where you can't count on anything that far out because conditions are constantly changing.

So what's the deal?

Stick to the NHC forecast. They don't show the turn because it is difficult to predict that far out. That cone of uncertainty is a 5 day forecast, so you'll have plenty of time to pucker if LA ever gets in the cone. People give the NHC shite for the Katrina forecast, but the storm always stayed inside of the cone on during the days they said it would be there.

I'm sick of this northern turn bullshite. Every update shifts this bitch further west. Someone talk me off the ledge but it seems like it's trending towards a Pensacola/Orange Beach landfall.

Looking like no way to avoid it at this point.

This is going to be rough. What would be worst case for Florida? Hitting the west side or the east including Miami and Orlando?

Fastest I saw reported was a gust of 132, not sustained. I'm just trying to be hopeful.

Boys and girls, you rarely see them look so perfect in the Atlantic. The symmetry is astounding.

Yep every single update shifts more and more west. It'll be projected to Mobile in the next 48 hours.

Harvey's wind field was very confined. Irma's is expanding as it goes through eye wall replacement cycles.

Does it seem like the predictions are going more western every 3 to 5 days?

Large population centers would obviously be the worst case scenario.

Regardless of where it makes landfall it will be bad. Hoping for the best, but people should prepare for the worst.

Looks like it will be a 2 or 3 when it makes landfall so that's encouraging.

Now the question remains...is there anything in its path, on the current track, that will weaken it before it hits Florida?
