Big pockets of low/no shear environments and long swaths of 30+ degree waters. It's exactly what'd you think to set up parades of Cat 5s

Yeah but I'm wondering about their structure. They seem to be bottom heavy, so to speak.

Well they most likely won't do that again.

That's if they live to make that decision.

What’s their reasoning? Do they have kids?

Either way—They will regret it. Wait until they hear on the news when officials tell everyone who stays to write their SSN on their arm with a sharpie.

The manager of their townhome community told them "it hasn't flooded there before". Based on the elevation maps they're around 7-10ft above sea level.

Uhh....that's a dangerous gamble. I know you know that, but damn. I hope they have a second story they can get to.

If Flo can get an EWRC done soon her structure will improve a lot. If you look at the microwave, Levi was pointing out theres actually 1.5 eyewalls atm, inhibiting further intensification. If that clears, watch out.

They'll wish they hadn't, but hopefully they prepare appropriately.

My inlaws stayed on the gulf coast through Frederic in 79. Said they never do that again.

What good does a generator do if the electricity is out? You still have to plug the generator. In somewhere.

Dumbest thing I read today. Hope you don't own one. You would fall under the dumb people that would run a genset inside their house.

Either way, yeah. Ask any Katrina survivor if they would stay again for a cat 4/5. You dont have to ask the ones who didnt make it.

Gotcha. Can guess at it here, but that's certainly rds territory. Wouldn't mind an overly technical explaination myself.

Once the NHC surge maps come out they may change their mind. The ones posted in this thread stop at 9+ feet. The storm specific ones go into more detail.

There has to be a color-coded evacuation map for that county based on storm surge forecast vs. elevation.

They do. He works at a hospital so he's likely to be called in for mandatory staffing. And even if he isn't they've heard "they won't be able to get back in" next Tuesday when he's back on shift.

I've already told them that the authorities blocking access back into town will let medical personnel through.

I'm going to go through the shite we dealt with in the 10-14 days after Katrina and see if that changes their mind.

at that height, I'd be gone. Knowing the damage that occurred from Katrina on the MS Gulf Coast with surge especially. It seems people really underestimate the power of that much water rolling in over a few hrs worth of time.

With an incoming storm surge of 15-20' for 24 hrs plus. Yeah no thanks.
