It's all relative. Relatively dry air gets wrapped up pretty regularly in these storms.
I guess I was looking for a water vapor satelite image that might show some imminent dry air intrusion, but I dont know if that will happen at this point.

My company just spent 3 months doing an engineering survey off the coast of VA Beach. Suffice to say, we can throw that away and start over in October
On the bright side, you have an excellent baseline to use for comparison in evaluating the impact of the storm. Many papers will result.

n the geologic record you can see when storms like this have impacted the coast and what they've done. This one will be a "reflector" in the seismic data for generations of geophysicist that are imaging below the seafloor.
In layman's terms, whenever a singular event is seen in the geologic record, it means shite hit the fan.

Seismic surveys can bite me

For now it seems Florence has leveled off for the time being.

Have TWC up in the background. Last shot had some deeper convection getting going on the south eyewall, despite the warming just south of it.

Day long hi-res loop of Florence
We might end up with some incredible satellite images as Florence gains latitude. Well put together storms that far north of the equator and path of the sun are rare.
Should make for some crazy shadows.

You would think he's joking but coming from that poster he's probably serious.

i am probably out late tomorrow night to New Orleans. Was going there next week anyway. Can’t take risks with a 3 month old.

Not sure if serious.

NHC updates every six hours. There are text updates every three starting probably tomorrow. I'd throw them up under the main map starting tomorrow. I'll link you and quote the relevant stuff in the thread for you at the 10 pm update.
WPC updates, I think every 12 hours but your image should automatically update.
The other image will change sporadically. I'll keep an eye on it.
That thread set up was a lot of work.

That’s why the experts say to get a backup generator so you’ll have something to plug in to.

How's the elevation at their place?
Also, I bet they won't stay again.

The manager of their townhome community told them "it hasn't flooded there before". Based on the elevation maps they're around 7-10ft above sea level.

Agreed.
