Not surprised to see pressure dropping this afternoon. Still work to do on the west side, but looks of a storm starting to wrap up.

Hopefully it holds up but the gfs has it stalling off the coast and the euro doesn’t

Euro is basically the same, which is just about the same as the 00z run.

I'm surprised this thread isn't getting more recognition. Must not be many east coasters that post on this site. Could be looking at a historic storm.

It will pick up when Florence is a bona-fide major storm in a day or so.

It's Sunday but yeah gulf coast and southern east coast dominate. If it's in the SEC footprint, it'll get more traffic than otherwise.

Anyone familiar with the flood issues and topography for the area in question? I don't think anywhere can handle that type of rain without major issues, but I'm guessing some can better than others, obviously?

They already had record breaking floods in SE North Carolina last year when Hurricane Matthew went through.

I think Hurricane Floyd is a good comparison here.

I’m here and post in the thread occasionally, but mostly just let those with knowledge do their thing.

My god. 40 inches of rain?

160 gusts at landfall?

Storm surge will be unreal.

I hope people have started evacuating

What would that do to the naval base in Norfolk?

I’m flying back to Raleigh right now, promise it has my attention. This could be catastrophic even two hours inland.
