I hope people have started evacuating
SC is in a weird spot, it takes time to evacuate so you have to make a decision but also run the risk of evacing for a rainy day.

If I lived in the Myrtle Beach area back into Conway (especially along the Waccamaw River), I'd start getting stuff together to drive over to Florence and wait the storm out. People who live along the Little Pee Dee should also be watching extremely closely.

If in Myrtle Beach, I’d evacuate. In Charleston, I’m watching things before deciding.

Good idea. I was scheduled to drive from Atlanta to Raleigh on Thursday & stay the night but I canceled my hotel. Going to wait it out & leave on Sat.

I'd GTFO if I was in Myrtle Beach or even down to Murrell's/Georgetown.
Charleston can keep watching for now IMO it's looking better but as mentioned before I have personal circumstances that may cause me to leave regardless of the turn. There's still little margin at this point in the cone.

Talked to a friend at Fort Bragg yesterday, he was completely unaware of Florence.
Some people don't know that a major weather event is unfolding unless someone comes to their door and yells it at them. It has to take effort to be that uninformed. It's like the people who say they had no warning when a tornado hits, even though there are multiple great methods to get severe weather warnings, like NOAA Wx Radio. You have to be trying not to get warnings.

How much of a threat to Puerto Rico is Isaac?

Their governor is more of a threat than Isaac...

Likely south of Puerto Rico other than maybe getting scraped by outer bands.

Most models are suggesting its a rainfall threat more than anything right now. That's obviously subject to change since it's beyond 5 days.

Some models on tropics tidbits had Isaac dissipating after going past Puerto Rico what’s the chance of this actually happening and not impacting the gulf coast at all

Zero.
Major global weather events affect global patterns of heat distribution...not just the local area

The reason nature has hurricanes is to redistribute heat and moisture.

I knew it was the liberals fault.

Most all the models are now showing it degrading to a tropical wave and then racing into Central America.
In the short term, the NHC is now up to 20% on an area of disturbed weather that is currently in the WCAB.

Am I the only 1 surprised there's not like round the clock Hurricane Hunter missions now into Florence since this looks like it could be a huge impact to the US?

They're going to be flying a lot of missions coming up as it approaches the coast. It's still ramping up today and a ways away from the coast still. As important are all the soundings going up along the east coast.
