Bahamas Press @Bahamaspress ABACO| Deceased victims of Hurricane Dorian being loaded on flatbed trucks across Abaco. PM Hubert Minnis claims the RBPF has confirmed five deaths, however, sources on the ground tell us bodies are being collected all across Abaco this afternoon. We believe there are more.
I would imagine this number is going to increase significantly. It was basically a tornado and tsunami combined.

Not drone footage, but there is some good timelapse video of Michael's eye on Youtube.

You need to be playing some golf right now.

You saying they should take that...in rough waters with a hurricane approaching...and leave an island in the middle of the ocean and head to where exactly?
Yes they should have evacuated in those. When I was in Minnesota the locals used kayaks to evacuate and these people have power motors to escape from the Hurricane. You rarely hear about deaths from these types of storms in Minnesota and that’s because they escaped.

I can’t tell how old the girl in the Clemson sweatshirt behind Alex Wilson is.

I just caught myself thinking "Oh, good, it's only 140 mph" as if that isn't still "kill you until you are dead" territory.

I've housed relatives for several months after Katrina. I've been hit by more than one tornado.
So, I've had a share of dealing with the natural disasters, obviously not as bad as others, but I fully respect and anm empathetic to those enduring any hurricane, tornado, earthquake, etc.

At this point all we can hope for is the best for the people in the Bahamas and hope the storm weakens limiting damage to the Eastern US.
Living on the Gulf Coast we can count our blessings this storm is not coming our way.

Ann needs to repent to God or jump off a bridge with no water underneath. I would suggest she play in traffic but that would endanger some other humans. Maybe feed her to some bears.

It looks like there was some dry air wrapping into the eye. It’s making me feel better to think that the massive winds are on the side that’s over the water and not land. Damn this thing is relentless.

I believe the original comment about why some don't evacuate was directed at the guy in the sturdy home built 15 feet up.
But, for some of the residents of those islands in the target zone, couldn't they have been evacuated by the govt to other Bahamian islands not in the path?

I’m a weather nerd and keep up with this stuff and I’m just trying to think of a hurricane parking like Dorian while staying at least a high 4.
Has this ever happened?
I know storms like Harvey and Carmen stalled after landfall but at lower strength.
Stalling and staying a 5 or high 4 for this long?
Is there a precedent?

Not so easy if you have a family to consider. And aging parents with lots of medical needs and limited mobility. And pets you have to figure out where you can go with them.

Those poor people that stayed and are going through this. It’s already been a long day and now they’re in for a long dark night.
I can’t imagine they fear and anxiety they’re suffering through right now.

It's just a horrible stroke of fortune that Dorian stalled where there is just a few flat islands and plenty of warm water. Not many spots in the basin where such a thing would even be possible. I can't imagine what Grand Bahama has gone through. Getting to a full 24 hours of major hurricane conditions in places and a constant push of water from the north side at Freeport.

Is Abaco completely out of the western side now? They’ve been there since Sunday.
