Lol not a bad idea. It’s actually anniversary. We got married at Casa Marina during TS Hermine. Now every year we get a hurricane for our anniversary. Kinda keeps it exciting. About to head to Salt Life for dinner.

Ours too. shite is ridiculous. I live in Southside, not in an evacuation zone. As of now, I think we'll be alright in this area but definitely keeping both eyes open.

Up to my street, which was still 8-9 ft below where my house sits. It's the live oaks and pine trees that may be an issue. Lost a giant live oak in Irma w years ago and a pine tree snapped in half 30 feet up during Matthew.

Sold our house three weeks ago that was directly across from where they are building the Margaritaville, moved behind the golf course, feeling good about it at the moment

Somebody said they are now flying to it from Biloxi, instead of Lakeland. Why would they make this change when Lakeland is so much closer?

There are two sets of hurricane hunters. NOAA's hunters are based out of Lakeland. The Air Force's hunters are based in Biloxi.

The AF is more concerned with forecasting and maintaining the U.S. military's readiness as tropical systems approach. NOAA has a research role as well as forecasting.

The Air Force shares non-sensitive information with civilian organizations for modeling and forecasting purposes.

I live in Gainesville, but I was on schedule to be in Jax this week. Just not happening now, no way in hell. Hope it doesn’t hit Jax that hard, but this is so reminiscent of Irma with people being so casual about it. It did some major damage to some people living near the river. Stay safe.

As of now, there have been no discussions of moving the Chiefs/Jags game. So that's promising, I guess.

No worries if it is the same girl. She is a floater. Large buoys.

Possibly her FB?

It's hard to tell, but the top left has little dots near the eye showing lightning flashes. Still quite a bit of lightning there. Presentation on satellite has somehow improved just a little bit over the past hour.

Outflow has increased to the north side (which is consistent with the steering breaking down and that ridge starting to retreat). If anything, the outflow situation has improved for Dorian since this morning. Suggests modest strengthening since the last recon is possible.

Almost has wrapped around a thick white ring, showing colder cloudtops symmetrically around the center. Another sign he has potentially gotten a little stronger.

Realize at this point, there's not much more strength Dorian could realistically gain. So when the plane gets in there, steady with this morning wouldn't be a surprise. I'm just noting there are signs we might see pressures a little lower. Kind of hard to believe the winds could be much higher, given 185 mph sustained is ridiculous already.

As always, we'll see how the measurements match the imagery this evening.

CNN put a correspondent in Freeport to ride this thing out.

Dumb.

Has this storm cleared anyone spot yet? Just wondering about fatalities -- praying that there are none but I'm not expecting that.

I would be very surprised if there are readings to justify 200 mph sustained. I mean maybe 190 if the very slightly improved presentation has actually resulted from a lower central pressure. At this point, the difference for those in the Bahamas is minimal. It's still catastrophic +/- 10 mph anyway.
