re: HS seniors switch schools as prank; admins throw butt hurt hissy fit with punishments

quote:
On Monday, a small group of seniors from Chilton County High School and Jemison High School, in Chilton County, swapped schools and attended each other’s classes, expecting teachers to catch on quickly. But the students managed to spend nearly half the day at opposite schools without anyone noticing.
quote:
When teachers and administrators realized what was happening, students said their phones were taken up, their cars were towed, they were punished with at least three days of suspension and they were banned from opposite school premises for up to a year, according to social media posts. They also said that participating students at Jemison High were kicked off sports teams, had scholarships taken away and couldn’t attend prom.

Educators are special people

people wonder why "kids these days" are pusses who are scared to test boundaries, push limits, etc... here you go

The punishment is quite appropriate here. Educators and administrators cannot be held accountable due to their students behavior. Therefore any time a student acts up they must be punished severely so as to set an example for others. The educators and admin cannot be punished for the actions of the students. Educators are not responsible for how their students learn or behave. Educators are there to distribute the material. Whether or not the students learn it is inconsequential to teacher evaluations. This is why educators are so important, especially those with higher education degrees and masters degrees. Without them who would distribute the knowledge? It doesn’t matter how they do it or what happens afterwards. Teaching is one of the hardest jobs in this country. This is why doing away with grades is a great thing many states are implementing. If we get rid of all the metrics by which to judge teachers we would all realize how great all teachers are.

Absolutely. Almost the entirety of our school boards across the nation need to be run out of town on a rail.

your response fits your name...
Good prank...shame the teachers are trying to cover their lack of security on blaming the kids.

They took away scholarships from kids? Can they do that? Wouldn’t that be the colleges who are offering the scholarships decision?
Posted on 4/14/22 at 8:32 am to StringedInstruments
How the hell do both school faculties nkt notice this? lol

“Let’s be honest, the administration is who is at fault here,” Hunt wrote. “If it took them half the morning to realize they had strangers in the school, we have bigger problems than a Senior prank. The reality is, the lack of security was exposed and now they want to punish the children.”
I could see them easily getting passed security if the other students gave them IDs, combinations... No excuse for making it past the 1st class if the teacher is halfway paying attention.

hey also said that participating students at Jemison High were kicked off sports teams, had scholarships taken away and couldn’t attend prom.
I assume this means the scholarships to attend that HS? How would a HS have the power to cut college scholarships? And if that's the case, talk about trying to actively destroy a kids life for a minor indiscretion because you were embarrassed.

seems a bit harsh for a harmless prank. nothing was damaged, nobody was hurt. a lot better than most high school pranks.
Even if they were at a different school they were still at school, sitting in class, and receiving instruction. What's the problem? This punishment is absurd.

Oh, so you’re applying an opinion placed on a different story with a completely different fact pattern.
