If we hire a 20 something year old babysitter to stay at the house with me to take care of the kids while I work in my office we may be able to pay less than daycare and save a little.

Save on daycare pay out the arse in the divorce.

In-home childcare costs about 2.5-3 times as much as a daycare.

Well, for starters, I'd say you want an in-home sitter while leaving out the whole 20-something co-ed piece. See who applies and take it from there.

Daycares in Baton Rouge usually charge around $700.00 per month per kid ... you may save some for 2 kids but newborns can be more.. Do the math... If you are looking at 40 hours per week of service how much do you think you are going to pay the Nanny and will you find a decent one for under 8.50 an hour?

Have you seen the kind of threads that you start? Why not look at some old ugly nannies instead of a 20 something?

I find it pretty funny that everyone on the OT just assumes a hot 20 something nanny is going to want to frick them

I don't know where you got the idea that an at home babysitter would be cheaper than a daycare - especially with an infant - but that person is retarded.

It's you, isn't it?

L O L

My nanny costs more than Newman. You don't save when you pay for convenience.

Now, obviously the babysitter will likely be female due to the “implication”.

Here's my serious response...instead of just a daycare, do some research and find a place that is a "learning center." That's what we did with our kids when they were young and they are in 8th and 10th grades now and have never had anything but A's on their report cards. Plus it helps to be around other kids to learn to interact with them.

I went through the nanny thing when my last two were very young. Here's what you will get:

- Some young girl that is a last minute no-show too often.
- A person that will text while your children destroy the house and bother you while you work.
- An older lady that seems nice but is actually very strange and has qualities that led to her being available for employment.
- You will find the awesome one but she is for a very limited time or very expensive.
- About half of them will ask if they can watch your kids at her house instead.
- Some will ask if they can bring their kids too.
- Lastly, you will find one that will have more last minute car problems or have some unbelievable amount of drama that they will gladly bring into your life.

My wife and I both work from home and still send our kid to daycare.

A) We would never get any work done with him home.
B) Build up his immune system.
C) Daycare is good for building his social skills.
D) Lunch dates with no kid.

My 2.5 year old just started "2-K" at the school where my wife works. I dropped him off on the first full day and it was a nightmarish hell as soon as we walked inside the building. Kids from ages 2-4 who had never been to daycare getting dropped off for the first time. My boy has been going since 3 months, but he looked up at me "like what the frick did you get me into". I would send mine to daycare at least a few days a week even if my wife didn't have to work just for this

In 2004 I had 3 kids under 5 & daycare cost me $450/WK. No one is going to work for less than that so you will definitely save having only 2 in daycare.

Please video your wife's reaction and include the exact verbiage: "we should hire a 20 something year old girl"... then report back

The key is to do the interview when the wife isn't there. I made the mistake once of interviewing, with the wife present, a really hot early 20s Colombian chick as a possible housekeeper. That lady strutted around in a tight skirt with the vacuum cleaner saying she vacuums everything to make sure it is clean. I wanted to hire her on the spot but the wife was like, "No freaking way!"
