How self-absorbed do you have to be to schedule a kid's bday party on Mother's Day?

Working on getting the cousins together to celebrate the family matriarch for Mother's Day.

Get the excuse that one cousin has kid that has been invited to party on Sunday, and they won't be available until later in the afternoon.

Is my cousin lying, or are people this dense to actually schedule a party on freaking Mother's Day?

How would the OT go about trying to find out if my cousin is lying?

I would just hold the Mother's Day event without that cousin

Just kiss another cousin Sunday. Surely he's not that hot.

Your cousin sounds like an a-hole that probably has a-hole friends regardless of the truth about this "party".

I got a dollar says its a lie. Birthdays are scheduled and planned by moms. No mother is going to pass up a chance to be the center of attention and drama by scheduling a conflicting birthday party. Just my opinion though.

Is this that big of a deal?

Maybe that's the only day they could schedule a party?

Mother's Day is a made up day. Who cares if you guys get together this Sunday, this Saturday, or next Friday?

Maybe the mom of this kid wants him/her to celebrate a birthday on...the actual birthday.

I don't see this as an issue really. You could do a breakfast on Sunday or a dinner, but because one of them can't do middle of the day you're angry?

Sounds like the birthday party is after church around 12-1 o'clock and your cousin said he wont be available until later in the afternoon.

I dont see what the issue is

One thing that I’ve learned about throwing parties at my house, is never try to track down the people who don’t show up. Odds are it will be better without him if that is their attitude

Do you really want someone who doesn’t want to be there, to actually be there??

My daughter's birthday falls around Mother's Day every year, so we've been there trying to plan her party around Mother's Day plans for friends/family. We've never done it on Mother's Day though, but often the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend.

I got one even better. My wife's birthday falls on Mothers day every so often. Well a few years ago, the first year after the birth of our first child, M-Day fell on her birthday as well. We had a whole plan to go out with family and celebrate. Her sister decided to plan her own M-day party for her self(She thinks she is a mom because her boyfriend has a kid who he takes care of 50% of the time) on the same day. She guilted her parents and grand parents into dividing up their day between the two events(We got Sunday Church, she got the rest of the day) and didnt show up to ours
