Mother's Day is a made up day. Who cares if you guys get together this Sunday, this Saturday, or next Friday?

Do you have kids? If so, what does your SO or Mom think about this opinion?

For starters, it's not even their party it's just some other kid's. Lame exuse.

Seocond, the kid's birthday is on May 12th, not "mothers day" which changes year to year. It's not his fault his bday happens to be on MD this year.

But anyways....I agree it's a lame excuse and they shoudl do the family thing instead.

They probably just don’t want to come to a boring arse party

Is my cousin lying, or are people this dense to actually schedule a party on freaking Mother's Day?

The more I think about it, the more I think this might just be genius. Throw the kid's party on a day where a lot of people won't be able to attend. Your kid is still going to have a blast, but now you only have to deal with 4 rugrats instead of 10.

Why are you waiting 4 days before Mothers Day to plan a Mothers Day get together?

People probably have had plans for this day for weeks or even months already

No I do not have kids. I have spoken to my own mother about it, and she could care less about celebrating the day at all, much less on Sunday.

She doesn't want to be in overly crowded restaurants if she doesn't have to (my dad has made a Sunday night dinner reservation that I can't make since i don't live in the same city, is that better?). My dad will try and make it about him anyway, even though she isn't his mom

Why would they make up an event if they were still planning to come? You make up stuff to get out of things *completely*. Don't see what the big deal is. They said they would come, just be a little late as they have already made a commitment to another event.

And Mothers Day isn't a big deal to every mom. I told my husband to not worry about doing anything for me or gifts, and I truly mean it. It was a big deal for me when I was working because I had tremendous mom guilt and needed that validation. Since being a stay at home mom, the guilt is gone and my husband sees how hard I work and appreciates my contributions everyday and more importantly, doesn't demean my exhaustion and frustration. Don't need one day a year when you have 365. :)

I got a kid whose birthday falls on Mother's Day some years.

It is my wife's fault for delivering the baby 2 weeks early

How self-absorbed are mothers to schedule mother's day during graduation season?

I got a dollar says its a lie. Birthdays are scheduled and planned by moms. No mother is going to pass up a chance to be the center of attention and drama by scheduling a conflicting birthday party. Just my opinion though.

Unless she's a single mom with no dad around to plan anything. And wants to try to make other moms miserable.
