Every Day

I say “I love you” to my wife, kids, and truck everyday.

No it doesn't.
Sure it does.
It's like when you're dating a girl and she pressures you to tell her you love her.
I'm thinking "I've been dating you for 3 month, I haven't known you long enough to love you".
Of course that doesn't stop me from saying it to get what I want

Every time we speak to one of our kids or grandkids and vice versa.

Long pause, Patrick says “OK folks, we are done here.”

Always. At every parting

everyday, every time one of us leaves the house we say it, because you never know

When I was a kid, rarely from my dad (basically until I was an adult), from my mom fairly often.
As an adult to my spouse every day at least once, to my kids multiple times every day.

My parents said it to my brothers and me all the time. My wife and I say it to our son and each other all the time, as well. We try to model it for him. It was apparently much rarer in her home growing up, so it's natural/organic to me, but something she feels like we need to make a conscious thing.
She gets hurt when he doesn't say it back, or when he says it to me but not to her. He's just turned two. Perimenopause and childhood trauma ftw.

Growing up? Never. I have great parents that luckily are still around, but they are not warm or sentimental people. Very, very little physical or verbal affection to us as kids or to each other.
They grew up in some of the shittiest neighborhoods you could imagine (Braddock, PA) and clawed their way out of there. They did it through cold determination and everything is work to them, even in their 80's they are still pragmatic and mission oriented.
In our home, we make a point to say it every day and share hugs and whatnot. Not going to lie, it's uncomfortable for me at times with how I was raised, but feel that's it's a healthier example for the kids. I've even gotten to the point where I say it to close and longtime friends. People should know what they mean to you and god forbid if it's the last time you see them, it should be the last thing they hear from you.

True love from a woman towards a man is completely dead. Everything is transactional now. Everything.

In my immediate family, during my childhood? Nearly never.
My father first told me, "I love you," as I was exiting his hospital room in the days before he passed away. I was 48-years-old, and knew dad's time must be coming if he was throwing that phrase around.
Today, I tell my two children I love them every night before bedtime, and usually at school drop-off in the morning. I try to tell my wife this everyday, too.

We exchange “I love you” anytime one of us is leaving to go somewhere, when we get off the phone, and last thing at night before going to sleep. That goes for my wife and I as well as our kids.

Every day. I tell my wife , my daughter, my son and my grandkids. I’m 60 and have had health problems the last couple years. The last thing I want them to remember is I told them “ I love you “
This... I am not a "touchy feely" kinda guy but at 68 I am not taking for granted they know how I feel..
beside that, I want my messaging to override what the outside world may be telling them..

Never. My family was not particularly affectionate growing up. Still that way.
BUT
None of us ever doubt it. Everyone in the family knows they are loved. We just do.

This isn't true
That said, it's increasingly accurate for many, and that number is growing exponentially. M-F dynamics are really really bad and not necessarily in the more dramatic ways portrayed on social media. Something has to give before long.

Regularly in my house as a kid. Never got off the phone with mom or dad or family without saying it.
Say it as much as I can to my wife and close friends. You never know what may happen in this life, I want them to know that I love them all if I ever leave this earth earlier than I would like to.
