Just had to put our boxer down yesterday after 10 wonderful years. I don’t wish this upon anyone, this is miserable. She was in a lot of pain these last few days so no I wouldn’t pay to bring her back and her have to suffer again.

You’ve never seen Pet Cemetery have you?? Cujo???

Let a sleeping dog lie. They’ve given you all they have to give.

Just don't fly a helicopter for the guy running the dead dog revival company.

Here's a good infomercial explaining the process: LINK

I had to put down our 9 yr lab last year. It was an excruciating experience. She was easily the best dog we'd ever had. But more than that, was the kid's dog and they grew up together. I swore we wouldn't ever get another one. Not because I didn't want a replacement but because I don't have good dog luck. But my wife kept pushing so we got this aussiedoodle a couple of weeks ago. It's helped a lot at just replacing the horrible silence that used to be filled with dog noises.

Turns out this dog may end up being the best yet.

10k or more. She was the best girl; she went downhill so fast, and it was a horrible way to go. I rescued a dog a few months after she passed, the same breed, but she's not the same. I miss Lewbie every single day.

Only get a year. And you know it's coming.

Still tempting though. Especially since I posted one of the dreaded "my dog died" threads 4 years ago today.

To sum up my thoughts on how people are starting to overvalue pets. An old hunting buddy once told me:

A humans life is a novel, a dogs is merely a chapter.

When your pup passes, enjoy what you just read, and turn the page to the next

If my dog died, it is not able to be magically resurrected. That's not how it works. You could have an identical pup, which is amazingly cool... but it will never be the same dog.

For that reason, I don't think I could do it. Maybe after a long while. Idk. I think I'd opt to have a new experience with a different animal.

I think they are lying about the $50,000. We clone livestock animals that’s bigger than dogs for $8000-$10,000

Not a penny. We had a good run but it’s part of life. My current dogs are pretty great too.

I need to get in touch with you about a post from a couple months back. What’s the best way to do so? Replying to you last post seems to be the best route to do it. About your work.

I think people are overvaluing pets, not because pets aren't valuable, but because we're using them to replace other, very natural life experiences (like having kids).

As for the dog thing, I don't even think 5k-10k is a bad investment in a vacuum. 5k for a year of great memories and companionship is nothing. But who wants to go through that process again.

This for me.

I haven't lost mine yet, but he turns 14 this month! I love that little guy so much, but will be a complete wreck when he passes, and I know I don't want to do that twice.

To answer your question, considerably more than $5K.
Same.
