How much natural habitat will be wiped out by Ford’s new EV plants in KY and TN?

Things EV proponents don’t seem to like to talk about:
- environmental impact of mining for all these new batteries
- environmental impact of new EV plants
- carbon footprint of all the raw materials for the new plants
- carbon footprint of all the new materials needed to upgrade the power grid
- Environmental impact of all the new electric generation required (especially wind and solar)
Ford to spend $7B on new plants
EV folks: How long and how many electric vehicles will it take to ‘break even’ from an environmental standpoint on just these 2 Ford plants?
I assume on some level the numbers are affected by an EV replacing an ICE vehicle.

Standard Lithium has solved this issue, they are pulling battery-grade lithium from brine deposits in Arkansas, it is green technology.

Sometimes nature needs to be pushed back like those bushes.

I just hope these plants don't bring the unions to KY and TN.

EV cars should be banned in O&G states

Do we support mining jobs or not on the OT? I can’t remember where we stand today

That was pretty much the point in locating them in those States.

That is great news if the tech becomes used around the world.

First, they should be forced to rehab the faculties in Detroit and other cities, if they are really doing this “for the environment.”
Second, lithium-ion batteries still have plenty of issues beside raw materials. The little bastard generate lots of heat(due to liquid electolyte) and like to catch fire. There is a warning not to park these things in garages for a reason.
There is talk of solid-state batteries making an impact.

Most charging happens during off-peak hours, so there is plenty of capacity available. And assuming charging stations like Ford's one that can backfeed from the EV to run the house sort of catch on, they have the potential to reduce the total generation capacity required. We could smooth out the peaks and troughs in consumption and possibly eliminate the need for peaker plants.
- carbon footprint of all the new materials needed to upgrade the power grid
- Environmental impact of all the new electric generation required (especially wind and solar)
Also, I think people far overestimate how much power will be required. If we could switch every single vehicle over to an EV overnight, that would result in a 25% increase in total electricity consumption in the US. Given that it will take decades to approach that level of adoption, I think that can be easily managed. And again, if the majority of charging is off-peak and EVs can serve as grid storage, we could knock the top off the peak power requirement.

I hope these plants aren't going to bring the unions to KY and TN.
Both are union plants.

That is a well thought out response, thanks.
25% is a huge number when you are talking about total consumption.

By the plants themselves, not much at all.
The rest, other than the batteries, should be in line with non-electric vehicle production, no?

Natural habitat? None.
It has been farmland for 300 years.
