For a 2300 sq foot house? How much would you expect to pay?

MIL had a tree fall on her roof and now needs a totally new one. No structural damage so she just needs a roof and a chimney cap.

Google is not being helpful.

2 years ago I paid $8k for a new roof on a 1500sf rental property. It was a low pitched roof on a basic, single story, square footprint home. Hope that helps.

Square footage =/= squares on a roof. Depends on the pitch of the roof as well.

I own a construction/roofing company. More important that price per square is getting a roofer that knows how to handle insurance claims.

Insurance is paying for it, the last thing you want to do is get the cheapest roof possible, You want a roofer who is going to replace everything, not cut corners.

That being said, a new roof is going to be in the $500 a square range if the roofer is doing it right.

The insurance estimate is %100 percent going to be low, especially since there is tree damage.

Per Brown's Roofing, July 31, 2025 - The average cost of a roof replacement in Baton Rouge $16,000, but final price is based on complexity, size, pitch, and other factors. Brown's Roofing

M&M Roofing says roof replacement in Baton Rouge, Louisiana typically costs $8,000–$20,000 for an average single-story home, with most homeowners paying $10,000–$15,000 for a standard architectural shingle installation. Final costs vary based on roof size, pitch, decking condition, and material choice. M&M Roofing

This is reasonable accurate. I'm about to build a house. $12k-14k is what I'm getting quoted for a 2800 SQFT living area house.

I had my roof replaced on a house that size in Baton Rouge around 2022. I didn’t have an insurance claim, it was just due. Red Stick Roofing quoted $40K and seemed disinterested because I was paying out of pocket, everyone else quoted about $22K.
